The Rag Trade for Baby Wipe Box
Digital Photo Frame (Color Wood, GY-705) ,
Sheila Hancock, Esma Cannon & Miriam Karlin in BBC Television The Rag Trade
The Rag Trade is a British television sitcom transmitted by the BBC between 1961 and 1963.
The scripts were by Ronald Wolfe and Ronald Chesney, who later wrote Wild, Wild Women, a period variation of The Rag Trade'.
The action centred on a small clothing workshop (the title associates with the textile industry), Fenner Fashions in London. Although run by Harold Fenner (Peter Jones) and Reg the foreman (Reg Varney), the female workers are led by militant shop steward Paddy (Miriam Karlin), ever ready to strike, with the catchphrase "Everybody out!" Other cast members included Sheila Hancock (as Carole), Esma Reese Cannon (as Brother Lil), Wanda Ventham (as Shirley) and Barbara Windsor (as Judy).
The Rag Trade was revived by ITV company LWT in 1977, with Jones and Karlin reprising their roles. The 1977 version ran for two series and featured Anna Karen (reprising her role as Olive from On The Buses) and future EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth as factory workers.
The theme tune for the 70s LWT series was written and performed by Lynsey De Paul.

Pleasure Island (Pinocchio) for Candy Cotton Maker
Wheel Barrows & Hand Trolleys ,
Pleasure Island is the name used in the Disney film adaptation of The Adventures of Pinocchio for the fictional location called Land of Toys (Italian: Paese dei Balocchi) in the original novel. The size and nature of such location is unclear (the Disney adaptation depicts it as an amusement park, whereas the novel implies it is at least as large as a township); the ambiguity in the original name (paese can mean country or land, but also town or village) adds to the confusion.
Located in the fictional land of Cocagne (also referred to in the text as the Land of Boobies), Pleasure Island serves as a haven for wayward boys, allowing them to act as they please without recrimination. However, the truer and more sinister purpose of Pleasure Island is eventually revealed as it begins to physically transform the boys into donkeys.
The Land of Toys in the Novel
The original take to the Land of Toys mixes the aspects of a morality tale with those of social critique. Boys are lured there by the promise of never having to go to school again and being able to spend their whole time having fun - as a result, almost as a natural consequence, they become donkeys (in Italian culture, the donkey is symbolic of ignorance and stupidity).
When framed in the context of the late 1800s, the chapters set in the Land of Toys also serve as social commentary: abandoning school means securing oneself a future with no other chance to make a living but hard labor, and there are plenty of people (like the ruthless coachman) who will try and take advantage of that.
Pleasure Island in the Disney Film
The segment from Pleasure Island in the film version is much more of a morality tale. The boys who are taken to the island go voluntarily with the promise of fun and unlimited freedom. While on the island, the children are encouraged to commit acts of vandalism, fight, drink beer, smoke cigars, and gamble - all things that good little boys are not supposed to do. The nature of the coachman and of Pleasure Island itself is shown as more preternatural and inherently evil.
The transformation into a donkey is not instantaneous. When boys arrive on the island, they remain human for some time before showing any signs of the curse changing them. The first indication is braying replacing the boy's normal laughter, followed by the growth of donkey ears and a tail. The head, torso, and extremities come next, after which the boy is then forced into a quadrupedial stance. The final notable change is losing the ability to speak. Before the donkeys leave Pleasure Island, they are checked to make sure they have lost their ability to vocalize, which signifies they are fully transformed.
When The Coachman tests out the donkeys, he does many things to them. The ones that can no longer vocalize are stripped bare of their clothes, chucked into wooden crates and then sent on to salt mines or circuses. The ones that can talk are taken back to a pen where other talking donkeys plead for mercy. The Coachman has to either keep them on the island until they lose their vocalization or their death.
In the 1940 Disney version, Pleasure Island also has an impact on Geppetto: the puppet maker learns that Pinocchio is on Pleasure Island, and sets out to sea to find him, only to be swallowed along with his whole boat by Monstro the Whale.
Trivia
The Pleasure Island theme was taken up again by science fiction author Cory Doctorow in his short story "Return to Pleasure Island", where it is told from the perspective of cotton-candy-vending Golems.
The 1990 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appears to pay tribute to Pleasure Island by showing an underground lair with drinking, smoking, gambling, and showing wayward teenagers engaging in more modern forms of fun such as blasting offensive music and playing video games. The only skills that are taught are martial arts and how to move stolen goods. The Shredder's lieutenant, Tatsu, is ruthless in his martial arts classes, but otherwise not bothering the teenagers when they are not learning fighting and crime. When one kid bumped into him, Tatsu clearly brushed it off as an honest mistake and simply said to the boy "Go, play."

Mosler for automotive oxygen sensor
Drinking Water Ionizer / Filter-Anywater ,
Mosler Automotive is an American supercar manufacturer based in Florida and St Ives, Cambridgeshire, England, founded by Warren Mosler in 1985. It currently produces the MT900R racer and the street-legal MT900S, as well as several unique project vehicles.

History
In 1985, Warren Mosler, a bond trader who manages a hedge fund with $5 billion under management, started a company called Consulier Industries and introduced the Consulier GTP, a 2200 lb. mid-engined car powered by a mid-mounted turbocharged Chrysler 2.2L engine producing 190hp. The chassis was a fiberglass-and-foam monocoque. Mosler was so confident in the performance of his creation that he first offered a $25,000 bounty to anyone who could pilot a street-legal production car around any US racetrack faster than a Consulier GTP. Car and Driver took up the challenge, racing a pre-production prototype "stock" Chevrolet Corvette (not even a ZR-1) around the Chrysler Proving Grounds racetrack in Chelsea, Michigan. Antoine and Csaba Csere took three laps each in the Corvette and a 1988 Consulier GTP Series I Sport. Both had similar lap times in each car, with the Corvette's best lap at 1:21.01 and the Consulier's best at 1:22.56. They felt that the Consulier was "difficult to han
dle," with "anemic" brakes. Confronted with this test, Warren Mosler claimed that the test car was older and worn out. In fact, the Consulier they got was from a Track Time Driver's School with very worn tires and worn brake pads, no interior trim, and three cigarette lighters which were specially installed so Track Time could plug in their equipment. Mosler offered to send his driver with new brake pads and agreed to pay the $25,000 if the Consulier didn't lap faster that the Corvette. Car and Driver refused, saying it might be faster because of the driver. Mosler told them they could use any driver they wanted for their car, but to have them drive the Consulier and get paid if they lost was a conflict of interest. Car and Driver refused and took it as an insult and subsequently published a negative article where they ridiculed the interior, the three lighter plugs, and compared the overall fit and finish negatively with a new Datsun ZX. They also claimed that Mosler defaul
ted on his promise. To back up his claims, Mosler raised the challenge to $100,000 which was won by Chet Filip in the Consulier as Mosler predicted at the Sebring road course. The Consulier GTP competed successfully in many races for the next six years, before being banned by the IMSA in 1991. Overall, 100 Consulier GTPs were produced.
In the early 1990s, Consulier also developed environmentally friendly vehicles, including electric cars, composite-bodied cargo vans, and small city-car commuter vehicles.
In 1993, Consulier Industries sold its automotive division to Mosler Automotive and changed its name to Consulier Engineering. Consulier Engineering (NASDAQ:CSLR) through its subsidiary Patient Care Technology Systems markets the Amelior TM patient care systems which are data based integrated emergency room information systems and passive tracking systems. Additionally, through its subsidiary Consulier International, it markets Captain Cra-z Hand and ALL Purpose Cleaner and through its affiliate, Biosafe, develops and markets environmentally safe products as alternatives to traditionally toxic pesticides.
The newly named Mosler Automotive introduced the Intruder, a rebodied Consulier with a new 300hp GM LT1 engine. This car raced at the 24 hours of Nelson Ledges for two consecutive years, winning both years - unfortunately, the Intruder was also banned after its dominating 1993-4 performances. In 1996, an Intruder modified by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering to yield 450hp won Car and Driver's One Lap of America. It too was banned after three victories.
In 1997 the Intruder was given a v-shaped windshield that reduced drag, and renamed the Raptor, once again winning the 1997 One Lap of America. It also went on to win the 1999 One Lap. The Raptor entered in the 1997 One Lap weighed 2773lb (1,258kg) and had 443hp (330kW) from a Lingenfelter modified 6.3L V8 engine.
In 2001, an all-new Mosler debuted - the Mosler MT900. This carbon-fiber chassis, rear wheel drive supercar was designed by using Siemens advanced design software, and used a 350hp (261kW), mid-mounted GM LS1 engine. An early prototype MT900S, despite being 390 pounds (177kg) heavier and having 65hp (49kW) less power than the production version could achieve a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 12 seconds flat. Since then, the MT900 has undergone several revisions to become the 2005 MT900S, which has 435hp (324kW) from its Corvette Z06-derived LS-6 V8, powering a 2,500lb (1136kg) car (without fuel). A Photon variant is available which adds a Hewland transmission, thinwall subframes, BBS magnesium wheels, titanium springs, and carbon fiber seats and bodywork, reducing the car's mass to 1,980 lb (900kg). MotorTrend with its guest hot shoe, Le Mans winner Justin Bell, behind the wheel reported a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds, a standing quarter-mile time of 11.72
seconds and a standing mile time of 30.4 seconds. In addition to breaking acceleration records, Motor Trend also reported 60-0 braking in 100 feet, braking from 100-0 in 275 feet and the ultimate test, 0-100-0 in 10.98 seconds, breaking the 11.15 second record previously held by the McLaren F1 LM. It was discovered after the Motor Trend test that the Mosler MT900 test car had a faulty O2 sensor and was very down on power.
Introduced concurrently was the MT900R, a race prepared version of the MT900. In 2003, the MT900R won the GTS Division of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. In Europe, the MT900R has successfully raced and won in the British GT Championship, FIA GT Tourist Trophy races, International Open GT Championship, Britcar Championship, Spanish GT Championship as well as selected races in other series. In 2008, The Mosler Dutch Supercar Challenge, an MT900R only race series ran its inaugural event at the famed Nburgring F1 track.
Mosler has also produced several one-off project vehicles, including a six wheel custom Jeep that uses many GM components (dubbed the J-10 Sport) and the TwinStar, a Cadillac Eldorado boasting twin Northstar V-8s.

Overview
Outside Exhibition Area
Illustrating the turbulent times of Korea throughout its history, the War Memorial houses six exhibition rooms displaying over 13,000 items under different themes, including an outside exhibition area consisting of numerous military equipment. Visitors will experience the spirit of national defense of Koreans throughout the War Memorial, which was designed with advice from military experts.
Aim
The Korean peninsula has seen many wars among and within its states as well as intrusions from neighboring powers. Over the centuries, the southern states slowly seized territory from the neighbouring states and peoples such as the Jurchen, driving the border north and consolidating the peninsula under a single state, suffering several invasions that its allies helped to overcome. The War Memorial was built to commemorate actors and victims in the wars which led to the modern nation state. The museum also has the purpose of educating future generations by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting various historical relics and records related to the many wars fought in the country from a South Korean perspective.
Construction
The construction of the War Memorial of Korea was completed in December 1993. The project was carried in consultation with war experts while collecting a wide range of exhibition items at home and from abroad. Upon the completion of the interior the War Memorial of Korea opened officially on June 10, 1994, and became the largest landmark of its kind in the world.
Surrounding area
Statue of Brothers
Located on the old site of Army Headquarters, the War Memorial of Korea accommodates four aboveground floors and two underground floors in the main building, which stands on an area of about 20,000 square meters. On the green area around the memorial, loudspeaker emissions to foster patriotic spirit can be heard.
In cloistered left and right galleries flanking the facade of the main building are rows of black marble monuments inscribed with the names of those who died during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and of policemen who died on duty. The plaza in the museum compound has an artificial waterfall, and around it are widespread rest areas so that visitors can picnic while enjoying the pleasant landscape. In the center of the plaza stands the Statue of Brothers, the elder a South Korean soldier and the younger a North Korean soldier, which symbolizes the situation of Korea's division.
Exhibition areas
An exhibition hall
13,000 items are displayed in its six halls under different themes: Memorial Hall, War History, Korean War, Expeditionary Forces Room, ROK Armed Forces Room, and Large Equipment Room, plus the outside exhibition area. Displayed are various weapons and equipment from prehistoric times to the modern period as well as paintings of battlefields and sculptures of notable warriors and An Jung-geun, who assassinated a former Resident-General in Manchuria in 1909. About 100 large weapons are displayed in the outside exhibition area on the lawns around the building.
Memorial Hall
Upon entering the memorial halls, this English text is inscribed:
Inscribed on this memorial is the names of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces Soldiers and Policemen killed in the Armed Forces Activation, Korean War, Vietnam War and Counter Infiltration Operation and the United Nations Forces Soldiers killed in the Korean War.
Combat Experience Room
The Combat Experience Room provides a special opportunity for visitors to vividly experience life and death situations in night combat which soldiers went through during the Korean War. The special audiovisual effects, lighting, vibration, and even gunpowder odor make visitors feel as if they are right on the battlefield.

History
Del Castillo began as a latin flamenco-style project between two brothers, Rick and Mark del Castillo in the fall of 2000. The brothers, who had always played electric guitar in separate rock bands, had never played together and for the first time ever they began collaborating on songs on acoustic guitars. Their parents had never been able to relate to their music, rock -blues in Rick's case, rock and some metal in Mark's, so the two decided to record some music together that their family could listen and relate to. Their good friend, vocalist/guitarist Alex Ruiz, began adding lyrics to the brothers instrumentals, and soon after, the other band members joined them. Rick recruited his friend Albert Besteiro, Jr., on bass and Mark brought in drummer Mike Zeoli from their other joint project, Milhouse. The last member to join was Rick "The Rev" Holeman on percussion. After receiving positive and encouraging responses from everyone who heard the songs they created together, the p
roject began to evolve into a real band. They began playing regularly around the Austin area, most notably the Tuesday night slot at Momo's. The intensity of the band's live performance centers around the two guitar-playing brothers. Though not flamenco players by training, the two have proven to be equal to the likes of the Gypsy Kings, and Strunz and Farah. The speed, accuracy and expertise of these two, backed by an amazingly strong rhythm section, and fronted by the enigmatic Ruiz, draws fans and newcomers to the foot of the stage almost every performance.
With the line-up complete, Del Castillo began writing material, fusing many styles and influences, all while retaining a solid latin element. The band released their debut CD Brothers of the Castle in 2001, which met with rave reviews from critics and music fans alike. As the once "project band" solidified into a family of musicians, the band crafted their follow-up release, Vida, which took the band to the next level. And recognition, if not fame, came calling in the form of an invitation to appear on the soundtrack of director Robert Rodruez's Once Upon a Time in Mexico and the honor of winning "Best Austin Band of the Year" at the 2002-2003 Austin Music Awards.
The Del Castillo Live DVD, filmed and edited by Robert Rodruez, was released in early 2004. Filmed at the famous Steamboat Springs on 6th St in Austin, it captured the fire and intensity of their live performances. Also that year, Quentin Tarantino used a Del Castillo song in Kill Bill Vol. 2, performed by Chingon, Robert Rodruez musical collective of some of his closest musical compadres, including members of Del Castillo. Del Castillo, with Robert, performed as Chingon at the premier of the film in Los Angeles.
In the Spring of 2006 Del Castillo released their third CD, Brotherhood, which it was immediately acclaimed by the media across the board. In late 2006 Rick Holeman decided to retire from the band, and the group found a new percussionist, Carmelo Torres, to take his spot. Hailing from Los Angeles, but now living in Austin, Carmelo has proven a strong addition to the band, as musician and songwriter. The years 2007 and 2008 have found the group touring extensively, playing coast to coast, including many festivals. Wherever they go, they bring back more fans, and the legend continues to grow. Hopefully the Spring 2009 will see the release of their new studio album, and perhaps a new live DVD/CD.

Rick del Castillo Guitar/Vocals
Ever since I can remember, music has filled my heart and soul. From my humble beginnings of banging on trash cans at the age of six to touring across the country all through my twenties, music was my one constant companion. I've delved in many genres but playing spanish/ flamenco music on a nylon guitar with my brother and four other dear friends seems to fuel my muse to infinite measures. All I've learned through my 24 years of playing, touring, producing and engineering has led me to this point. ~Rick del Castillo~
Mark del Castillo Guitar/Vocals
Mark del Castillo grew up in the Rio Grande Valley city of Brownsville, Texas surrounded by the many musical influences of his family. Inspired by the talent and success of his older brother Rick del Castillo, he began to immerse himself in the study of guitar at age 14. Mark was a self-taught guitarist until he became a Music Major at the University of Texas at Brownsville in 1990. At that time he studied Music Theory, Ear Training, and Applied Guitar as well as joining the University Latin/Jazz band. In 1991, at the age of 19, he joined a cover band called Kickstart and began to build a reputation for himself as a guitarist. After playing with Kickstart for over three years, Mark moved away to pursue further education in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University. While a student there, he and some friends formed a cover band called Vivid. After graduating in 1996, Mark and Vivid relocated to Austin, Texas and began to play regularly on the world-renowned 6th Street Cir
cuit, various other cities in Texas, and even in Europe. While playing in Vivid, he joined his first original rock band called Milhouse. This was his first collaboration with Mike Zeoli (Del Castillo's drummer). On the first Milhouse CD, which his brother Rick recorded and produced, Mark recorded an instrumental latin track entitled ara Mija Linda showcasing his flamenco-style Spanish guitar playing. This song became a huge inspiration for him to return to his roots and write more Spanish guitar music. After composing several instrumentals, Mark began working with Alex Ruiz to add lyrics to some of the songs. Mark presented these songs to his brother Rick, who, realizing that they had never worked together, suggested that the Del Castillo brothers combine their creative forces and talents. Mark realized that this is the music that is true to his heart, in his soul, and will always live within him.

Mike Zeoli Drums
As a child, Mike was fascinated by the entrancing power of rhythm. He was known to entertain his neighborhood friends with daily performances full of dancing and drumming. Every night before falling asleep, he would lie in his bed and dream of playing thunderous, polyrhythmic beats that traveled on magic sound waves into outer space and into heaven.
"The beats and rhythms I play are like my prayers and gifts to the multi (uni)verse."
Mike has a diverse background in music and rhythm. He has performed with Ahmad Aladeen, Bobby Shoe, Clark Terry and Louis Bellson. He studied music at S.M.S.U. in...

Twofer for Two Way Splitter
Bluetooth EDR usb adapter with antenna,BH-0102016 ,
A stagepin twofer
A twofer is a cabling device used in theatrical stage lighting. It allows two stage lighting instruments to be connected to one dimmer. It is wired in parallel, such that voltage is consistent throughout the circuit, and current is shared between the two instruments. Twofers can be used in conjunction with cables with the same types of connectors. The name is a corruption of the phrase "Two For One".
UK terminology
The UK equivalent of the twofer is a Grelco. The name derives from the manufacturer of the original examples, but is now generally adopted for all examples regardless of manufacturer. It typically relates to a splitter for the UK 15A power connections commonly used for stage lighting. It is usually an integral block rather than a plug with two cables leading to two sockets. Where a single plug goes to 3 or more sockets it is sometimes known as a Trelco.
Typically for most other power connector types used in theatre, the term (2-way) splitter is used.

The Mondeo is Ford's successor to the Sierra - and this year's European Car of the Year. It comes with a range of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines as well as a 1.8 turbo-diesel, with a 2.5 V6 to follow next year. All models get power steering, driver's airbag, anti-lock brakes, electric front windows and a radio/cassette player as standard. Some models also have extras such as alloy wheels, passenger airbag, air-conditioning and leather upholstery as standard. After three years of falling behind Vauxhall's Cavalier, Ford appears to have come up with the answer of regaining pole position in the large family car sector. Also for Ford in 1993 they have decided to call time on the Orion, and after 10 years of the models independence in September this year it will join the Escort range from what it was originally created.
Rover has expanded its range with the launch of the 600 Series, a compact executive saloon which competes with the likes of the BMW 3 Series but is actually based upon the more downmarket Honda Accord. It uses Rover's own 1.8 and 2.0 16-valve K Series engines, and comes with a luxurious interior as well as a stylish exterior. It is not a sports saloon in the same vein as the BMW 3 Series, but as an affordable luxury cruiser it has few peers.
Vauxhall has replaced the decade-old Nova with the completely new Corsa. It is a stylish compact hatchback which has a surprisingly spacious interior, as well as being cheap to buy and run. Its 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines are not particularly strong-performing, but offer strong fuel economy - as does the 1.5 turbo-diesel which debuted in the Nova three years ago.
Following the insolvency of DAF NV (see the Netherlands section), Leyland DAF went into receivership. Two new independent British companies were established as the result of management buyouts of the respective parts of the old company: Leyland Trucks in Leyland, Lancashire took over the UK truck manufacturing interests, and LDV Limited in Birmingham took over the van making business.
France
The Peugeot 306 is successor to the 309 and is the second phase in the gradual demise of the long-running and hugely popular 205, though it is closer in size to the 309. It comes with 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines as well as an impressively refined and economical 1.9 diesel. Equipment levels are good, with most models getting power steering, driver's airbag and electric front windows as standard equipment. It is also a more attractively styled car than the likes of the Ford Escort and Vauxhall/Opel Astra, but its key strengths are its excellent ride and handling as well as its impressive diesel units. The car's chassis is derived from the Citroen ZX, which went on sale two years ago.
PSA has also strengthened its position in the large family car sector with the launch of the all-new Xantia, a five-door hatchback which replaces the 11-year-old BX. It is slightly larger than its predecessor, and comes with a decent range of economical and smooth-riding petrol and diesel engines. Its most distinctive feature is the standard inclusion of self-levelling oleo-pneumatic suspension which in true Citroen fashion gives it a unique feature in a mainstream market.
Renault has responded to new launches from the likes of Citroen and Ford by bringing out an all-new family car to replace its ageing R21. The Laguna is a stylish, spacious and comfortable five-door hatchback which comes with 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines as well as impressively refined and economical 1.9 and 2.2 turbo-diesel units. The hatchback is the only current model in the new Laguna range, though an estate version is due at a later date to succeed the R21-based Savanna.
Germany
Mercedes-Benz has pulled the plug on ten years of 190E production and launched an all-new competitor for the BMW 3 Series. The C-Class is a four-door compact executive saloon with classy styling inside and out. It is slightly more expensive that most similar-sized cars, but its premium price is justified by high levels of equipment, refinement and quality.
Sweden
Saab has launched an all-new version of its hugely popular 900 range, 14 years after the original version was launched. The new Saab 900 uses the same chassis as the current Vauxhall Cavalier/Opel Vectra, but is a far more distinctively-styled car. It perpetuates the traditional Saab virtues of individuality, safety, quality and refinement, while offering a good level of ride comfort and driver appeal.
Spain
SEAT, the Spanish subsidisary of Volkswagen, has introduced an all-new version of the Ibiza supermini to give it a long-awaited credible rival for the class-leading likes of the Renault Clio and Peugeot 106. Styled by world famous Italian designer Giugiaro, the latest Ibiza is a far cry from its predecessor. Stylish, well-equipped and fun to drive, its build quality is much improved and just shows how successful Volkswagen has been in rejuvenating the previously downmarket SEAT brand. Power comes from 1.0, 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines as well as a 1.9 diesel. All of these units will find their way into the forthcoming new Volkswagen Polo, while the larger two petrol engines will also power the Cordoba - a four-door saloon based on the Ibiza running gear.
Netherlands
DAF NV became insolvent. DAF Trucks was re-established as an independent truck maker following a management buyout of the Dutch interests of the company. Similar actions occurred in the UK (see the United Kingdom section) with respect to the company's British arm Leyland DAF.

Flavored liquor for black currant extract
SD Card Reader ,
It has been suggested that Vodka infusion be merged into this article or section. (Discuss)
A variety of flavored vodkas. From left to right: grain, Blueberry, Nordic Berries, Vanilla and Green Apple.
Flavored liquors are distilled alcoholic beverages with added flavorings. They are distinct from liqueurs in that liqueurs have a high sugar content, whereas flavored liquors contain no added sugar. They can either start with a base of white rum or vodka, both of which are known for having little taste of their own, or with a brandy, as is the case with Arak, which already has its own flavor. Flavoring is added at the distillery. The most expensive flavored liquors use essences of fruit much like a perfume would, except in larger quantities. A relatively new method introduced in the late 1990s involves sugar syrup and fruit extract.[citation needed]
Flavored liquors include:
Absinthe (wormwood, anise, fennel, and other herbs)
Akvavit (caraway seeds, anise, dill, fennel, coriander, and grains of paradise)
Arak (anise)
Gin (juniper and other herbs)
Raki (anise)
Anise-flavored tsipouro
Flavored vodkas (numerous flavors including lemon, lime, lemon-lime, orange, mandarin orange/orange, tangerine, grapefruit, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, vanilla, black currant, chile pepper, cherry, apple, cinnamon, coffee, chocolate, peach, pear, passion fruit, pomegranate, mango, white grape, banana, pineapple, coconut, mint, melon, rose, buffalo grass, and a?a)
Flavored rum originally consisted of spiced rums such as Captain Morgan. More recently, a wide range of flavors have been introduced, possibly inspired by the popularity of flavored vodkas. Available flavors include lemon, lime, orange, citrus, vanilla, and raspberry, and extend to such exotic flavors as mango, coconut, pineapple, banana, and watermelon.
Flavored tequila (flavors include lime, orange/mandarin, mango, coconut, watermelon, strawberry, pomegranate, chili pepper, and coffee)
Bitters
Flavored rums and vodkas frequently have an alcohol content 10-20 proof lower than their straight spirit brothers. They also often contain a small amount of added sugar and are thus technically liqueurs, though the classification has been disputed both ways.[citation needed]

Video painting for LCD Video Wall
Sexy, romantic lingerie rose/valentine's gift ,
Video Paintings are a form of ambient video art presented via projectors, LCD or other flat panel display and wall-mounted in the same manner as traditional paintings. Content in this emergent form is designed to work at all times as either a highly aware foreground experience, or as passive background pieces of art. There is no sound accompaniment, it is only video. The concept of video paintings borrows from Brian Eno's idea of ambient music in works ust be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting."
Like traditional paintings, video paintings hang on the wall to be viewed or passed over - depending on individual viewer preference in the moment.
Description
Flatscreen technologies such as plasma, LCD, DLP and the up and coming OLED displays, are on the cusp of exploding in terms of marketplace penetration. Currently, the market offers both existing hybrid (video projection boxes) and true flatscreen technologies, and video art projections using cutting-edge projection technology. Even as these devices are being steadily introduced to our domestic and creative cultural spheres, more revolutionary technologies are being developed and implemented. Bill Buxton (University of Toronto, former chief scientist for Alias Wave Front and Silicon Graphics) maintains that gel, thin film, and painted surface video technologies are the inevitable next step in this development. Massively large scale moving images, beyond anything we have experienced, will be part of our everyday lives. As a result our domestic (and public) visual spaces will be profoundly transformed.
There are several artists and designers who are producing video paintings and ambient art that is intended to repurpose the blank space of an idle flatscreen. In addition to this there is an ever increasing number of companies specialising in video paintings to varying degrees. Companies such as Plasma Window, Vat19, Digital Hotcakes have all contributed to this growing phenomenon often providing the archetypal classical ambient video paintings. These companies and increasingly other artists and companies are expanding the availability of this genre. Ambient Digital Art [(http://www.ambientdigital.co.uk)] have evolved the concept to more specialised markets including bespoke personalised service additionally with expansion into the realm of generative art.
TransLumen Technologies [(http://www.translumen.net)] was founded in 2000 and applied for patents on imperceptibly different images or Subthreshold Extreme Gradual Change (STEGC) also called Fluid Stills Art Illusions. These patents were subsequently awarded and additional patents filed. TransLumen creates and provides ambient video DVD, HD and custom installations. They specialize in ultra-slow-motion technology and video painting.
Jim Bizzocchi (http://www.dadaprocessing.com), an artist and Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University's School of Interactive Arts and Technology, describes the new form: "Ambient video will emerge as a supremely pictorial form - relying on visual impact and the subtle manipulation of image, layer, flow, and transition. It sits in the visual background of our lives - always changing, but never too quickly. It does not conquer, it seduces. It rewards attention, but never commands it. Rather, its aim is to support whatever level of attention the viewer cares to bestow in the moment: a passing glance, a more intentional look, or a longer and deeper immersion within the dynamically changing experience of an ambient video world." Bizzochi must be credited with advancing the academic study of this phenomenon from his earliest papers on streaming video and other academic papers on video paintings.
NomIg. (http://www.nomig.net) were among the first to create video paintings with their 2001 piece d Infinitum. Working as audiovisual artists, the NomIg. duo questioned what would happen if the concepts of Eno's ambient works were applied to the visual domain. As a result their works place paramount importance on fluidity of movement; an absence of direct cuts/edits; and the removal of a linear time experience for the viewer. Their video paintings are centered on near-imperceptible movement where the works cause the viewer to question whether there is any movement at all. Upon a passing glance the work appears to be still - it is only after a returning glance or concentrated awareness that the motion of the piece reveals itself. Their work takes a fleeting second and expands it into a timeless contemplation of the moment. To achieve their extreme slow motion NomIg. have heavily researched and developed editing techniques which layer and blend frames while not succumbing to t
he artifacts of the standard digital slow motion process (jerky movement, blurry content). The actual duration of their paintings often exceeds 3 hours and are regularly produced in 1080p HD format. They are seamless loops.
In 2003, while curating the audiovisual component of the New Forms Festival (http://www.newformsfestival.com), the nomigs met Bizzocchi and quickly formed an alliance. Bizzocchi's "Rockface" was used as the intermission piece during the aforementioned audiovisual evening in place of traditional intermission background music thereby playing with the conventional structure of the ambient paradigm. 2004 saw NomIg. and Bizzocchi team up to curate a video painting exhibition at the 2004 New Forms Festival.
Believing that this infant art form needs to develop a strong community, NomIg. developed a dedicated video painting & ambient video resource (http://www.videopainting.org) in an effort to grow the video painting community as well as offer a resource for those looking for information about video painting in general.
2007 sees NomIg. continue to advance the video painting form with a newly developed slow-motion technique; artistic manipulation of the display device itself; as well as the integration of the display device into sculptural works.
Visual artist Jeffers Egan (http://www.jeffersegan.com) has been working with the video painting medium for some time, producing works described as references to Rothko and Pollock.
Malcolm Daniel (who was involved in the New Forms Festival exhibition mentioned below) has recently started producing a series of work as well. To the rich tapestry of ambient video, Malcolm Daniel adds commentary on culture and society with his Video Paintings. Filmed on location in India, Malcolm works speak to the integration of society and spiritualism that is so prominent to the region. The cultural significance of this relationship is explored through layering and slow motion effects which serve to foster an ethereal and meditative presence for the viewer.
An early pioneer of the ambient video art movement and video painting is Douglas R. Siefken. His first public exhibit of the Fluid Stills artform was sponsored by Sony on 02/02/02 at the Julia Friedman Gallery in Chicago. Doug is a founder and Chief Technology Officer of TransLumen Technologies, LLC. Their Fluid Stills Art Illusions are a new genre of art merging with technology. The art imbues each digital frame with the integrity of an independent artistic still that cohesively changes over time without any visible or detectable change as that change occurs, creating a serene, temporally streaming subthreshold ultra-slow motion video composition. This tranquil and harmonious art form obviates the visual noise and environmental disruption presented by some other digital art alternatives. Doug has a version of the Chicago Skyline series that was installed at the Hotel Cass, Chicago in August 2007. The piece is running on an 80 DLP screen in the main lobby. In 2008 Chicago May
or Daley was flanked by two images from that series on large screens at a luncheon.

Original Recording
The conditions in which the original recordings were made are quite outstanding. Hiring the Rolling Stones Mobile One equipment and studios, the band recorded the entirety of the tracks in a Montreux hotel facility, with no overdubs. The "Smoke on the Water" lyrics' citation "Frank Zappa and the Mothers" refers to Zappa's show at a nearby casino. The casino burned down a few days before the start of scheduled Machine Head recording sessions.
A song entitled "When a Blind Man Cries" was recorded during these sessions, but not included on the album. Instead, it was used as a the B-side on the "Never Before" single. The song appears as a bonus track on the album's 25th anniversary edition.
The supporting tour for Machine Head included a trip to Japan that would later become the double-live Made in Japan album.

Business Activity
CB&I is a fully integrated EPC service provider, offering a complete package of conceptual design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, field construction, mechanical installation and commissioning. CB&I serves customers in the following industries: oil and gas; petrochemical and chemical; power; water and wastewater; and metals and mining. CB&I's projects include hydrocarbon processing plants, LNG terminals and peak shaving plants, offshore structures, bulk liquid terminals, water storage and treatment facilities, and other steel structures and their associated systems. CB&I also provides a broad range of maintenance and repair services, including complete turnarounds for petroleum refining and petrochemical plants.
History
CB&I was founded in 1889 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, as Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, when Horace E. Horton, a bridge designer, agreed to merge business with George and William Wheelock of the Kansas City Bridge and Iron Company.
While initially involved in bridge design and construction, CB&I turned its focus to bulk liquid storage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, coinciding with the western expansion of railroads across the United States and the discovery of oil in the U.S. Southwest. CB&I quickly became known for design engineering and field construction of elevated water storage tanks, aboveground tanks for storage of petroleum and refined products, refinery process vessels and other steel plate structures.
CB&I supported the expansion of oil exploration outside the U.S., starting operations in South America in 1924, in Asia two years later, and in the Middle East in 1939.
Over the course of the company's history, CB&I developed many technologies and achieved a number of industry milestones, including the first floating-roof tank for the oil industry (1923), the first spherical pressure vessel (1923), the first double-wall LNG storage tank (1958), the first site-assembled thick wall steel nuclear reactor vessel (1966), the first marine LNG storage and distribution terminal in the U.S. (1971), the world's largest steel water reservoir (1986) and the world's largest vacuum distillation tower (1999), to name just a few.
CB&I Today
In late 2000, CB&I embarked on a series of acquisitions that have dramatically expanded its services to encompass the entire hydrocarbon value chain, from wellhead through processing and distribution. The new CB&I is a fully-integrated, full-service EPC company that can manage the entire scope of large-scale process plant design and installation projects, as well as turnkey storage facilities.
Examples of recent major projects around the world include:
two liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals in the UK (South Hook LNG in Milford Haven, Wales which will be the largest LNG terminal in Europe; and the Grain LNG import terminal near London)
an LNG liquefaction plant in Pampa Melchorita, Peru
a natural gas processing and treating complex in Cabinda Province, Angola
a crude vacuum and DE-Coking unit expansion project for a refinery in Kansas, USA
the Golden Pass LNG import terminal near Sabine Pass, Texas, USA
a large tankage facility at Shell Pearl GTL (Qatar)
hydrotreating and sulfur removal/recovery facilities for several major U.S. refiners
a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal at Quintero Bay, Chile. Worth approximately $775 million.
a Cat Gas Hydrotreater (CGHT) in El Paso, Texas, USA
a Hydrogen Generation Plant in Beneica, Ca, USA
The world's largest Propylene De-hydration unit in Houston, TX, USA
A grass roots nuclear contract in the USA
Multiple middle east storage facilities
Oil sands storage tanks in Alberta, Canada
CB&I was recently awarded a contract by one of the world's largest suppliers of wind turbines to fabricate 150 tubular steel support towers for wind turbines that will be installed in wind farms in the western United States. The towers will support 1.5-megawatt wind turbines, which are the largest wind turbines assembled in the United States and the most widely sold and tested megawatt class wind turbines in the world.
CB&I completed its largest single acquisition to date with the purchase of Lummus Global from ABB on November 19, 2007, adding approximately 3,000 employees to the CB&I family of companies.

Ascott House, sometimes referred to as simply Ascott, is situated in the hamlet of Ascott near Wing in Buckinghamshire, England.
Ascott House was originally a farm house, built in the reign of James I and known as "Ascott Hall". It was acquired by Baron Mayer de Rothschild (of the neighbouring Mentmore Towers estate) in 1873. The Rothschild family had begun to acquire vast tracts of land in Buckinghamshire earlier in the century, on which they built a series of large mansions from 1852 onwards. Baron Mayer gave the house at Ascott to his nephew Leopold de Rothschild, who transformed it over the following decades into the substantial, but informal, country house it is today.

Architecture
The garden front. From 1874 until the 1930s the house was almost constantly being extended.
Leopold de Rothschild, whose principal country residence was Gunnersbury Park, used Ascott at first as a hunting box, but realising the limitations imposed by its modest size, in 1874 he employed the architect George Devey to enlarge it. The present half-timbered house is largely the result of that commission. Devey attempted to design a house that rambled as though it had grown and developed over centuries. The project became a lifetime work for Devey as the house was continually expanded during the remainder of the 19th century. The rambling and climbing shrubs he had planted as part of the design of the facades that Mary Gladstone described in her memoirs are no longer there.
The style of architecture, which could be described as "English cottage meets Tudor Cheshire Manor house" is informal, the ground floor being of red brick, while the floors above are half-timbered. This rustic design no doubt deliberately reflected the house's original intention as a rural retreat and hunting lodge purely for relaxation and pleasure, and contrasted with the family's alternative country home, the more classical and thus impressive Gunnersbury Park. Other Rothschild houses in Buckinghamshire were all designed in the more formal styles of architecture, either the classical renaissance such as Mentmore or that of a French chateau as at Waddesdon Manor. The architecture at Ascott was not intended to faithfully reproduce that of an earlier era. Devey was a forerunner of the Arts and Crafts movement and had developed a rustic style of his own. Huge bay windows provide views over the Chiltern Hills. While, multiple gables of varying heights, with roof lines sweeping
to different levels resemble those later designed by the more notable Edwin Lutyens.
Interior
"Lady receiving a letter" by Ludolph de Jongh (16161679), bought by Baron Lionel de Rothschild in 1842.
On the death of Mrs. Leopold de Rothschild in 1937 the house was inherited by her son Anthony Gustav de Rothschild. It was he and his wife, the former Yvonne D'Anvers, who enlarged the house further, and are responsible for the present interiors, full of notable paintings and (unusually for a Rothschild House) a large collection of 18th century English furniture.
The ground floor contains the principal suite of large reception rooms, and while these rooms are furnished with works of art and furniture, they are low ceilinged, and, continuing the informal concept of the design, are in no way intended to be state rooms. The entrance hall is notable for its large paintings by Thomas Gainsborough, George Romney, and Joshua Reynolds and the large work by George Stubbs, "Five Mares". The dining room, now decorated with what appear to be Dutch tiles but is in fact trompe l'oeil, contains a collection of small, mainly Dutch, paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries by such artists as Aelbert Cuyp, Adrian van Ostade and Jan Steen.
The works of art continue through the common room, with its portrait of a prelate attributed to Lorenzo Lotto. The Drawing room today displays a collection of blue Chinese ceramics with examples from the Han dynasty circa 206 BC, to the Qing dynasty which lasted from 1644 until 1911. This room contains the painting of the Madonna and Child with St. John by Andrea del Sarto of 1520.
In 1936 the Billiards Room was transformed into a library to house the many volumes amassed by Anthony de Rothschild. One of the most comfortable rooms in the house, its book lined walls are only interrupted by Gainsborough's full length portrait of the Duchess of Richmond, and various other masterpieces. Standing on a console table is Tiepolo's "The Assumption of the Virgin". The room also contains furniture by Thomas Chippendale and ancient Chinese ceramics.
Gardens
The "Madeira Walk", a path between two mirror herbaceous borders, terminated by George Devey's classical pavilion.
The extensive manicured gardens were laid out on the advice of the garden designer Sir Harry Veitch circa 1902 by Leopold de Rothschild as a wedding present to his wife. A sundial made entirely of topiary complete with Latin numerals proclaims in clipped yew: "Light and shade by turn, but love always".
The Venus fountain by Thomas Waldo Story.
Closest to the south front of the house are paved areas of gardens in the style of Gertrude Jekyll, and from these across large areas of lawn are the terraced gardens. The dominating feature of these individual gardens is the clipped hedges, topiary and flowering shrubs. The largest feature of the garden is the bronze fountain representing "Venus in her shell chariot attended by cherubs", by the American sculptor Thomas Waldo Story. Story was also responsible for the fountain in the Dutch flower garden. This garden, so named for its displays of tulips in spring, is approached by descending a flight of steps through a rock garden, complete with dripping grotto and artificial stalagmites. In the centre of the garden Story's tall fountain, crowned by Cupid supported by dolphins, is surrounded by a formal bedding scheme.
From the entrance front's adjacent garden of topiarised box and bay trees a long grassed avenue, enclosed by a tall beech hedge, leads to the lily pool. This pool, originally created for skating, is the heart of a Monet-style garden, complete with a thatched summerhouse also designed by George Devey.

The approach to the principal entrance, lined by clipped bay trees.
Ascott House, with some of its important art collection and a small part of the estate, was given in 1947 to the National Trust by Anthony de Rothschild. The National Trust market the property under the name "Ascott". However, as at nearby Waddesdon Manor, the Rothschild family retain a very close control over Ascott, and the present resident of the house is the son of the donor, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. He has added further works of art and ceramics to the collection and much of what is seen in the collection is still privately owned by the Rothschild family.
Sir Evelyn de Rothschild has also expanded the estate to its present size of approximately 3200 acres (13km2). The estate contains many miles of new road-side tree planting, well kept hedging, and cropping and planting of new woodland but retains some of the older permanent pasture and small fields. A new major new road, the A505 ploughs through the area between the house and its Stud Farm, but has been disguised by dense woodland planting.

The Bren Ten was a semi-automatic pistol designed to advance the state of the art in sidearms, combining a new more powerful round with a weapon of greater strength and accuracy. The cartridge developed as the 10 mm Auto, while the gun was a larger and stronger version of the 9x19mm Parabellum CZ-75. The Bren Ten was produced only in small numbers before the company went bankrupt. A subsequent attempt to resurrect it by Peregrine Industries as the Falcon and the Phoenix were also unsuccessful as that company, too, succumbed to financial pressures and dropped production of the pistol.
The Ten remains a weapon of some controversy. Many enthusiasts consider it to be one of the best pistols of its era, and the 10mm Auto is one of the most powerful semi-automatic pistol rounds available even to this day. Quality control, however, was poor; many of the guns were delivered with missing or inoperable magazines for instance. The magazines were very hard to come by and cost over $100 apiece. Norma Ammunition Company's 10mm Auto ammo was made in large quantities in Sweden but there was no pistol to use it before Colt launched the Colt Delta Elite, a 10mm version of the M1911 pistol in 1988.

History
In the 1970s the police and some military forces used a mix of semi-automatic designs and revolvers. Automatics offered high rates of fire and quick reloading, but generally used small rounds that would neither overstress the mechanism nor the shooter. Revolvers were generally more accurate due to the availability of longer barrels, and were offered in calibers with considerably more power than the automatics, but held only a small number of rounds and were fairly slow to reload. Neither could be considered ideal.
On December 15, 1979, Thomas Dornaus and Michael Dixon decided to start the development of a new semi-automatic pistol to address the gap between revolvers and automatics. What was needed, they believed, was a semiautomatic pistol with its greater ammunition capacity and faster reloads, but one that would also deliver power exceeding both the .45 ACP and the .357 Magnum. They hoped the new design would become as popular as the then-aged Colt 1911.
On January 15, 1980, they went seeking advice from the most knowledgeable sources available. This effort naturally led to Jeff Cooper. Upon seeking his advice, it was discovered that he had already been working on such a pistol. They joined forces, Cooper providing conceptual design criteria and technical advice, and Dornaus & Dixon providing the engineering, development, manufacturing, and marketing. The company was formally incorporated as Dornaus & Dixon Enterprises Inc. on July 15, 1981 in California, and a new factory was set up in Huntington Beach.
After some experimentation with wildcat loads like the .40 GA and "centimeter" cartridge, they worked with ammunition manufacturer Norma to standardize the cartridge and design the pistol to fire it. The pistol, meanwhile, was adapted from the CZ-75 but heavily modified, including a stainless steel frame, easily visible sights, and various other features that would normally only be found on heavily customized arms.
Production of the Bren Ten ran from 1983 to 1986, with a production run of fewer than 1,500 total pistols according to some sources[who?]. They had started taking orders in 1982, forcing them to ship out examples as soon as possible, before any sort of in-depth testing could be done. The first batch of pistols was sent out to the customers with one magazine from a preserial batch. The much needed magazines could not be available on the US market for two years because Italy prohibited their export and customs seized them as war material. Customers cancelled their orders and in 1986 Dornaus & Dixon Inc. was forced to file for bankruptcy.
Design details
Basically the Bren Ten models are clones of the famous CZ-75 pistol design. The Bren Ten was offered in several variants in full sized and compact pistol frame sizes, made out of stainless steel. The slides where made out of carbon steel and had a blued or hard chromed finish. A .45 ACP conversion kit and an ambidextrous competition thumb safety was available for all Bren Ten variants. A .22 Long Rifle conversion kit was also offered for the full size variants. All full sized models contain a dual screw driver set that fits all screws used in the pistol as an emergency tool for performing field repairs.
The Bren Ten is a short recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol that uses a Browning Hi-Power style link less system. The pistol has the capability of being fired single and double action and feature an ambidextrous frame-mounted combat "switch" style manual safety that locks the sear so the trigger cannot be moved rearward as well as an internal firing pin block safety which stops the firing pin from traveling forward. The manual safety allows the pistol to be carried with the hammer back, ready for use just by switching the safety off, a configuration known as condition one. It is unusual for pistols to have a manual safety, most of them having a safety-decocker combination. Unlike most other semi-automatic pistols, the slide rides inside the frame rails rather than outside similar to the SIG P210. This provides a very tight slide-to-frame fit, very good barrel lock-up and contributes to good accuracy. The Bren Ten has adjustable iron sights with three dots for
increased visibility. The Bren Ten standard grips are made of black textured nylon and made by Hogue.
Magazines
The capacity of the detachable box magazines of the Bren Ten pistols varies from chambering to chambering and the exact Bren Ten variant. Technically the length of the magazine well in the handgrip dictates the shortest possible magazine length and accompanying minimum ammunition capacity. The maximum capacity of handgun magazines can however also be restricted by law in some jurisdictions.
The manufacturer offered the following default factory magazine capacities:

Papyrus plant (Cyperus papyrus) at Kew Gardens, London
Cyperus papyrus (papyrus sedge or paper reed) is a monocot belonging to the sedge family Cyperaceae. It is a herbaceous perennial native to Africa, and forms tall stands of reed-like swamp vegetation in shallow water.
Papyrus sedge (and its close relatives) has a very long history of use by humans, notably by the Ancient Egyptians it is the source of papyrus paper, parts of it can be eaten, and the highly buoyant stems can be made into boats. It is now often cultivated as an ornamental plant.

Description
This tall, robust, leafless aquatic plant can grow 4 to 5m (13 to 16ft) high. It forms a grass-like clump of triangular green stems that rise up from thick, woody rhizomes. Each stem is topped by a dense cluster of thin, bright green, thread-like stems around 10 to 30cm (4 to 10in) in length, resembling a feather duster when the plant is young. Greenish-brown flower clusters eventually appear at the ends of the rays, giving way to brown, nut-like fruits.
The younger parts of the rhizome are covered by red-brown, papery, triangular scales, which also cover the base of the culms. Botanically these represent reduced leaves, so strictly it is not quite correct to call this plant fully "leafless".
Papyrus in history
Main article: Papyrus
Papyrus paper
Egyptians used the plant for many purposes, most famously for making papyrus paper. Its name in Greek and in English is widely believed to have come from Egyptian, but this is probably a folk etymology. Cyperus papyrus is now used mainly for decoration, as it is nearly extinct in its native habitat in the Nile Delta, where in ancient times it was widely cultivated. Theophrastus' "History of Plants" (Book iv. 10) states that it grew in Syria; and, according to Pliny's Natural History, it was also a native plant of the Niger River and the Euphrates.
Aside from papyrus, several other members of the genus Cyperus may actually have been involved in the multiple uses Egyptians found for the plant. Its flowering heads were linked to make garlands for the gods in gratitude. The pith of young shoots was eaten both cooked and raw. Its woody root made bowls and other utensils and was burned for fuel. From the stems were made reed boats (seen in bas-reliefs of the Fourth Dynasty showing men cutting papyrus to build a boat; similar boats are still made in the southern Sudan), sails, mats, cloth, cordage, and sandals. Theophrastus states that King Antigonus made the rigging of his fleet of papyrus, an old practice illustrated by the ship's cable, wherewith the doors were fastened when Odysseus slew the suitors in his hall (Odyssey xxi. 390).
The "rush" or "reed" basket in which the Biblical figure Moses was abandoned may have been made from papyrus.
The adventurer Thor Heyerdahl built two boats from papyrus, Ra and Ra II, in an attempt to demonstrate that ancient African or Mediterranean people could have reached America. He succeeded in sailing Ra II from Morocco to Barbados.
Ecology
Papyrus ranges from subtropical to tropical desert to wet forests, tolerating annual temperatures of 20 (68) to 30 (86) and a pH of 6.0 to 8.5. Papyrus flowers in late summer, and prefers full sun to partly-shady conditions. Like most tropical plants, it is sensitive to frost. In the United States it has become invasive in Florida and has escaped from cultivation in Louisiana, California and Hawaii.
Papyrus sedge forms vast stands in swamps, shallow lakes, and along stream banks throughout the wetter parts of Africa, but it has become rare in the Nile Delta. In deeper waters it is the chief constituent of the floating, tangled masses of vegetation known as sudd. It also occurs in Madagascar, and some Mediterranean regions such as Sicily and the Levant.
The "feather-duster" flowering heads make ideal nesting sites for many social species of birds. As in most sedges, pollination is effected by wind, not insects, and the mature fruits after release are distributed by water.
In recent years papyrus has been the subject of intense ecological studies centered around its prodigious growth rate and ability to recycle nutrients. Much of this research was begun at Makerere University in Uganda in the early 70 in the swamps on the edge of Lake Victoria and continued in Kenya (University of Nairobi) on Lake Naivasha. John Gaudet work in Africa, supported by a National Geographic Society grant, appeared in various scientific journals over the period 1975-1991. In addition, other pioneer researchers of papyrus at Makerere in the 70 were: Keith Thompson, T. R. Milburn, and Mike Jones. Thompson studies of papyrus swamp development throughout Africa (1976-1985) later formed the basis for management and conservation at national levels.
Extensive research on the productive physiology of papyrus were carried out by Jones from the 80's onward. He started his work in Uganda and later continued his research on Lake Naivasha in Kenya where he was joined by a new generation of African researchers including Frank Muthuri. Jones's latest research (2002) found that papyrus is a C4 sedge which forms highly productive monotypic stands over large areas of wetland in Africa. Jones and others measured eddy covariance from a stand of Cyperus papyrus, which formed a fringing swamp on the north-west shore of Lake Naivasha, Kenya. They determined that fluxes of CO2 and H2O vapor between the papyrus swamp and the atmosphere were large but variable, depending on the hydrology of the wetland system and the condition of the vegetation. These measurements, combined with simulation modeling of annual fluxes of CO2, showed that papyrus swamps have the potential to sequester large amounts of the carbon (1.6 kg C m-2 y-1) when detritu
s accumulates under water in anaerobic conditions, but they are a net source of carbon release to the atmosphere (1.0 kg C m-2 y-1) when water levels fall to expose detritus and rhizomes to aerobic conditions. Evapotranspiration from papyrus swamps (E) was frequently lower than evaporation from open water surfaces (E o) and plant factors have a strong influence on the flux of water to the atmosphere.
Research on the papyrus swamp habitat has in recent years attracted the attention of many more African biologists, such as A. O. Owino, K. M. Mavuti, S. M. Muchiri and S. Njuguna. Increasingly the value of papyrus to other species is being recognized. Papyrus swamps provide hypoxic and structural refugia for cichlids from the large predatory Nile Perch and are an important habitat for several endangered bird species (Chapman et al. 1996; 2003; Maclean et al. 2003a; 2006).
The late 1990s also saw the rise in research on the papyrus swamps of Lake Naivasha in Kenya by teams from the English Universities of Leicester and East Anglia, notably led by David Harper. Harper's extensive recent studies on the swamps and lakes have led to a world-wide awareness of the problems facing papyrus swamps in Africa today.

Ordinance room for Chandelier Crystal Parts
HL-081: Military Binoculars( 7 x 50) ,
(Redirected from Celestial room)
In temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an Ordinance room is a room where the ceremony known as the Endowment is administered, as well as other rituals called Sealings. Some temples perform a progressive-style ordinance where patrons move from room to room, each room representing a progression of mankind: the Creation room, representing the Genesis creation story; the Garden room represents the Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve lived prior to the fall of man; the World room, where Adam and Eve lived after the fall; the Terrestrial room; and the Celestial room representing the Celestial Kingdom of God, or more commonly, heaven. There is also an additional ordinance room, the Sealing room, and at least one temple has a Holy of Holies. These two rooms are reserved for the administration of ordinances beyond the Endowment.

Development of Ordinance rooms
The first building to have ordinance rooms, designed to conduct the Endowment, was Joseph Smith's store in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1842. Using canvas, Smith divided the store's large, second-floor room into "departments," which represented "the interior of a temple as much as circumstances would permit" (Anderson & Bergera, Quorum of Anointed, 2). The departments included a garden with potted plants and a veil. (Ibid., 3-4). After conducting the endowment services, Smith told Brigham Young, "This is not arranged right but we have done the best we could under the circumstances in which we are placed." Smith concluded that he wanted Young to "organize and systemize all these ceremonies." (Ibid., 6-7). After Smith's assassination in 1844, Young also used canvas to divide the large attic room in the Nauvoo Temple in the departments. Participants in the Nauvoo Temple ceremonies used the same names for these departments as the ordinance rooms in later temples: Garden Room, World Ro
om, Terrestrial Room, Celestial Room, and Sealing Room, which was also called the Holy of Holies. (Anderson & Bergera, Endowment Companies, 2-4, 377; Smith, 204-206). With the resumption of temple ordinances in Salt Lake City in the 1850s, Young followed the same method of using canvas to divide an upper floor of the Council House into the ordinance departments (Hyde, 90-99).
The above arrangement for administering the Endowment consisted of only temporary modifications to a building's interior rooms; obviously canvas partitions were not meant to be permanent. The first building to be designed specifically with actual progressive-style ordinance rooms for presentation of the Endowment was the Endowment House built in 1855 on Temple Square. This structure had the same rooms as the Nauvoo Temple and Council House, including a Garden Room with murals and potted evergreen plants, but the Sealing Room was not called the Holy of Holies (Tingen, 10). However, when the St. George Utah Temple, was completed in 1877, Young followed the Nauvoo Temple pattern of using "frame petitions [sic., partitions] with the curtains and doors" for Endowment rooms (McKinney, 7:305). Apparently, the rooms were later made more permanent in 1881, when a group of Utah artists painted murals on the walls (O'Brien, 14-15).
Perhaps, using the precedent of the rooms in Endowment House and St. George, architect Truman O. Angell, Jr., specifically designed the Logan Utah Temple interior with progressive ordinance rooms; the first temple so designed, which was dedicated in 1884. Manti Utah Temple architect, William Folsom, followed the same arrangement for that temple, which was dedicated in 1888. Based on his experience with the Logan Temple, Angell petitioned Church president John Taylor to override Brigham Young's original design for the Salt Lake Temple's interior with progressive ordinance rooms, which Taylor enthusiastically approved (Salt Lake Temple, 54-55). This became the pattern for all temples until the construction of the Bern Switzerland Temple, when non-progressive ordinance rooms were developed to incorporate the new movie Endowment ceremony (Buerger, 166).
From the 1950s until 2002, Mormon temples were built with between one and fourteen ordinance rooms, any one of which could accommodate the entire endowment ceremony, combining the functions of the four progressive-style rooms. When the Nauvoo Illinois Temple was built in 2002, it was designed with progressive ordinance rooms, apparently as a tribute to the original Nauvoo temple ((2005 Church Almanac, 495-555). Temples built since 2002 have generally paired two ordinance rooms together. In this arrangement, the first room combines the functions of the Creation, Garden, and World rooms, while the second serves as the Terrestrial room, thus restoring part of the progressive style of earlier temples. However, no matter the number or arrangement of ordinances rooms, the Celestial room is always a separate room, which culminates the Endowment experience. After the Endowment is a culmination of the temple rites administered in the Sealing Room and the Holy of Holies.
The following description of the various rooms is based on James E. Talmage's House of the Lord, which is typical of similar rooms in other Mormon temples. These ordinance rooms reflect the overall temple ceremonies, which is an overview of God's plan for humanity. Beginning with the creation, the endowment reviews man's mortal existence, and what one must do in order to return to God's presence as husband and wife with their children.
Creation room
This room generally has "murals on the walls [which] are subdued in tones, and depict scenes representative of the creation of the earth" as recorded in Genesis. It has no altar, only comfortable theater seating (Talmage, 204). In this room temple patrons "learn about the creation of the world" (Temples," 11).
Garden room
This room has murals "showing landscape of rare beauty." The murals depict scenes such as "sylvan grottos and mossy dells, lakelets and brooks, waterfalls and rivulets, trees, vines and flowers, insects, birds and beats, in short, the earth beautiful, as it was before the Fall of Adam and Eve. It may be called the Garden of Eden Room." It has an altar and theater seating (Talmage, 204-205). In this room temple patrons learn "about our first parents being placed in the Garden of Eden....how Satan tempted Adam and Eve, and how they were cast out of the garden and out of the presence of God into our world" (Temples, 11).
World room
This room's murals stand "in strong contrast to with those of the Garden Room." The "rocks are rent and riven" with "gnarled trees, misshapen, and blasted; shrubs maintain a precarious roothold in rocky clefts; thorns, thistles, cacti, and noxious weeds abound," and the animals depicted "are living under the ever-present menace of death" The scenes depicts the "lone and dreary world," where Adam and Eve "[have] been driven out to meet contention, to struggle with difficulties, [and] to live by strife and sweat" in a "fallen world." It has an altar and theater seating (Talmage, 205-206). In this room temple patrons "learn about the joys as well as the discomforts of life,...[where they are taught the gospel and enter into covenants of obedience with God" (Temples, 11).
Terrestrial room
This room has no murals, but is "restful in its soft coloring and air of comfort." Its appointments "combine richness and simplicity," often including elaborately framed mirrors and paintings, and crystal chandeliers. "For convenience [this room is] designated the Terrestrial Room." In this room "lectures are given pertaining to the...

A location-based game (or location-enabled game) is one in which the game play somehow evolves and progresses via a player's location. Thus, location-based games almost always support some kind of localization technology, for example by using satellite positioning like GPS. "Urban gaming" or "Street Games" are typically multi-player location-based games played out on city streets and built up urban environments.
Current research trends are looking to other embedded mobile technologies such as Bluetooth and UWB. Poor technology performance in urban areas has led some location-based games to incorporate disconnectivity as a gameplay asset.

Some games only last for a certain amount of time, while others can be played any time. Some are location-dependent while others can be played anywhere. Narrative elements have become important elements to enabling locative media to progress gameplay.
BotFighters, developed by It's Alive! and released in 2000, was one of the first location-based games on mobile phones.
Geocaching is the most prominent example with a large community. It is nominally a single-player kind of treasure hunt which is usually played using hand-held GPS receivers with user-hidden boxes.
Swordfish uses the area in and around you to go fishing for virtual swordfish. GPS enabled mobile handsets allow for real time location information where the swordfish are in your neighborhood. This game has been available since 2004 on Bell Mobility Canada and is available on Boost Mobile and Nextel in the USA. Swordfish won the Excellence in Gaming category at the 2005 Canadian New Media Association Awards. Written in Java ME, the game is published by Calgary, Canada based Blister Entertainment (a wholly-owned company of KnowledgeWhere Inc.)
Torpedo Bay uses the area in and around you to avoid being killed by various ocean warships (carriers etc.) To survive, you must move in your neighborhood to get more ammunition and health to stay alive. GPS enabled mobile handsets allow for real time location information. This game is available on Boost Mobile and Nextel in the USA since 2005 and also published by Blister Entertainment.
Tourality is a real life multiplayer GPS game for mobile phones that support Java ME and GPS (integrated in the mobile phone or as an external Bluetooth GPS receiver). The challenge is to reach geographically defined spots by running, biking or driving before others in realtime. So called 'Spots', 'Points of Interest' and 'Game-Templates' can be created with Google Maps by users in supported areas on the website. This user-generated content is the basis for outdoor games. Tourality offers a singleplayer and two multiplayer (player vs. player and team vs. team) modes. Currently the game is available as a free beta version.
Sidewalk Squirrel is a single player location based game that allows anyone to create a gameboard in any neighborhood. Gameboards consist of a map, acorns, bones, a start and finish flag and are created on http://www.SidewalkSquirrel.com or using the Sidewalk Squirrel game. To play, individuals become a squirrel within a gameboard using GPS, Windows Mobile and the Sidewalk Squirrel game. The object of the game is to run the gameboard course picking up acorns and bones for points while avoiding attacking dogs (life as a squirrel). Dogs are also satisfied when given collected bones. Sidewalk Squirrel is Sneaker Entertainment's debut game.
The Journey (part 1 + 2) are mobile, location based adventure games developed by Mopius, which run on standard Symbian OS-phones. They combine the virtual world of a detective with the real surroundings of the player, while he is playing the game. The game is based on cell IDs of the mobile network, which has the advantage that no additional hardware like GPS receivers is required and that playing the game is free (no data traffic or location acquisition costs). As the virtual world is built dynamically during each game, The Journey can be played anywhere on the world and does not need prior setup. The first game was released as an open source game through the GPL-license. Both games have already been downloaded more than 100.000 times since their release in 2004 (state: 2007).
Pac-Manhattan uses the area in and around Washington Square Park to play a real live version of Pacman. In Pac-Manhattan players communicate their position via mobile phones.

A cold planer (also known as a pavement planer, pavement recycler, milling machine or rotomill) is an engineering vehicle used to remove bituminous or asphalt concrete from roadways, resulting in a smooth, even surface. This is accomplished by bringing a spinning mandrel or "head" into contact with the pavement at an exact depth or slope. It is normally fed by conveyor into a dump truck, but can be left in place or "wind-rowed" to be removed at a later date.

Vitreography is a fine art printmaking technique that uses a 3/8 inch thick float glass matrix instead of the traditional matrices of metal, wood or stone. A print created using the technique is called a vitreograph. Unlike a monotype, in which ink is painted onto a smooth glass plate and transferred to paper to produce a unique work, the vitreograph technique involves fixing the imagery in, or on, the glass plate. This allows the production of an edition of prints.

Advantages/Disadvantages of Vitreography
In addition to being relatively inexpensive, glass is chemically inert. It does not oxidize, nor does it change or interact with the composition of printing inks, especially yellows and whites, which can turn green or gray in contact with metal plates. According to Claire Van Vliet of Janus Press, intaglio vitreographs also have an advantage over metal in that the glass plate wipes cleanly in non-image areas, allowing bright white to coincide with lack that is velvety as a mezzotint in the finished print.
Another advantage of vitreograph printmaking is its ability to withstand the pressure of the printing press with no discernible breakdown of the imagery, even after numerous runs. Printmaker Kenneth Kerslake wrote, he glass plate will last indefinitely because, unlike [one of] copper or zinc, it will always return to its original configuration no matter how much pressure is applied. A disadvantage to this is that unwanted lines or marks on the glass plate cannot be burnished out, as they can on a zinc or copper plate.
The transparency of the glass plate can be used to advantage, in that the plate may be placed over a preliminary drawing on paper to guide the artist in creating a drawing on the plate. This is done by placing the drawing face down on a light table (to allow for the reversal of the image in printing) and placing the vitreograph plate on top of it. Although glass is unaffected by compression in the printing press, it will break under tension. For that reason, vitreographs are always printed on an etching press, whose rigid bed will support the glass plate firmly. . In addition, the press bed must be level and working conditions in the print shop immaculate. A particle of grit or dirt between press bed and the plate will create a tension point that will cause the glass to crack when pressure is applied.
Development of Vitreography
American glass artist Harvey Littleton was a tenured professor of art at the University of Wisconsin in Madison when, in June 1974, he taught a workshop in cold-working techniques for glass artists. To cold-work glass is to shape or sculpt cold (as opposed to hot or molten) glass, or to produce texture or decoration on its surface. Cold-working is done by carving, grinding or engraving glass with various tools, or by selectively blasting it with abrasives. As a result of experimenting with various resists for sandblasting, Littleton became intrigued by the possibility of printmaking from glass. . He asked his colleague at the University of Wisconsin, printmaker Warrington Colescott, to ink five of the sandblasted plates from the workshop and print them onto paper in his etching press. The first plate broke under pressure, but after making some adjustments to the press, the rest of the glass plates printed ike dreamboats, Colescott said. Editions printed from the plates look
ed promising, and Littleton was awarded a research grant from the University of Wisconsin to continue the development of printing from glass.
In 1976 Littleton retired from teaching and moved to Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where he set up a glass studio, reserving space for an etching press on which he continued to make vitreograph prints. A few years later, at the end of 1981, he hired a woodcut artist, Sandy Willcox, to work as a part-time printer. He encouraged her and his colleagues in glass art, including Ken Carder, Billy Bernstein, Erwin Eisch and Ann Wolff (formerly W?rff), to try their hands at vitreography.
In 1982 Littleton invited curator Jane Kessler of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina to see the prints that were being created at Littleton Studios. Kessler was impressed by the new technique, and recommended that experienced painters and printmakers be invited to the studio to explore the medium. A grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts made it possible for three painters, Walter Darby Bannard, Ed Blackburn and Hollis Sigler to collaborate with two master printers, Paul Maguire of Flatrock Press and June Lambla, who had apprenticed at Crown Point Press, in the creation of prints at Littleton Studios. By this time Littleton had...(and so on)

Kabocha (katakana: ????) is a Japanese variety of winter squash. The word kabocha has come to mean a general type of winter squash to many English-speaking growers and buyers. In some cultures it is revered as an aphrodisiac.
Kabocha is commonly called Japanese pumpkin, especially in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, and is also called kabocha squash in North America. In Japan, the word kabocha may refer to either the squash discussed in this article or to the Western-style pumpkin.
Varieties include: Ajihei, Ajehei No. 107, Ajihei No. 331, Ajihei No. 335, Cutie, Ebisu, Emiguri, and Miyako.
Today many of the kabocha in the market are of the type called Kuri kabocha, which was created based on Seiyo kabocha (buttercup squash). It's popular for its strong yet sweet flavor and moist, fluffy texture, which is like chestnuts. It's found in the market under such brand names as Miyako, Ebisu, Kurokawa, Akazukin, etc.

Characteristics
Kabocha is hard, has knobbly-looking skin, shaped like a squatty pumpkin, and has a dull colored deep green skin with some celadon-to white-colored stripes, and an intense yellow-orange color on the inside. In many respects it is similar to the Buttercup squash, but without the characteristic cup on the blossom end. It is a member of the species Cucurbita maxima, along with the Hubbard and Buttercup squashes.
An average kabocha weighs 2-3 pounds, but can weigh as much as 8 pounds.
It has an exceptional naturally sweet flavor, even sweeter than butternut squash. It is similar in texture and flavor to a pumpkin and a sweet potato combined. Some can taste like a Russet potato. Like other squash-family members, it is commonly mixed in side dishes and soups, or anywhere pumpkin, potato, or other squash would be. It is a common ingredient in vegetable tempura and makes a wonderful soup by adding a small amount of rice or wheat starch.
Kabocha is a common ingredient in vegetable tempura.
Kabocha is available all year round, but is best in late summer and early fall.
Primarily grown in Japan, California, Florida, Tasmania, Hawke's Bay New Zealand, Southwestern Colorado, Mexico, Chile, and South Africa, but is widely adapted for climates that provide a growing season of 100 days or more. Most of the California, Colorado and New Zealand crop is exported to Japan.
Nutrition
It is rich in beta carotene, with iron, vitamin C, potassium, and smaller traces of calcium, folic acid, and minute amounts of B vitamins.
Ripening
When kabocha is just harvested, it is still growing. So, unlike other vegetables and fruits, freshness isn't as important. It should be fully matured first, in order to become flavorful. First, kabocha is ripened in a warm place (77) for 13 days, during which some of the starch converts to carbohydrate content. Then it's transferred to a cool place (50) and stored for about a month in order to increase its carbohydrate content. In this way the just-harvested, dry, bland-tasting kabocha is transformed into smooth, sweet kabocha. Fully ripened, succulent kabocha will have reddish-yellow flesh and a hard skin with a dry, corky stem. It is heavier than it looks. It reaches the peak of ripeness about 1.5~3 months after it's harvested.
History
It is generally believed that all squash originated in Mesoamerica, but may have been independently cultivated elsewhere, albeit later. The kabocha, however, was introduced to Japan by Portuguese sailors in 1541, who brought it with them from Cambodia. The Portuguese name for the pumpkin, Cambodia abora (??????????), was shortened by the Japanese to kabocha. Certain regions of Japan use an alternate abbreviation, shortening the second half of the name instead to "bobora". Another name for kabocha is ?? or ??? (Nanking melon), which suggest that the vegetable arrived in Japan by way of China.
According to a different source, the squash was grown in North America in the past two decades and almost the entire crop was imported to Japan. Approximately 10-15% of the crop is made available for American consumers.

Alpine skier carving a turn on piste
Alpine skiing (or downhill skiing) is a recreational activity and sport involving sliding down snow-covered hills with long skis attached to each foot. Alpine skiing takes place at specially developed ski resorts where trees are cut, slopes are manipulated, snow is groomed and avalanches are controlled to facilitate the activity. Additionally, alpine skiing resorts employ various forms of mechanical ski lift to raise the skiers up the mountain.
The term "skiing" commonly refers to alpine skiing where one visits a ski resort, purchases a lift ticket, dons cold-weather clothing, skis, ski boots and often ski poles, and embarks on a chairlift, gondola lift, or other means of mechanical uphill transport. Upon reaching the summit, the skier disembarks from the ski lift and travels downhill, propelled by gravity, usually along a marked route known as a piste, "run," "trail," or "slope". Most ski resorts use mechanical equipment to "groom," or pack down and smooth, the snow surface on certain ski trails.
Alpine skiing developed in the Alps beginning in 1889. In Winterthur, Switzerland, Odd Kjelsberg may have been the first person in the Alps to try skiing. Previous to this time, the predominant Alpine winter sport had been tobogganing.
The sport is popular wherever the combination of snow, mountain slopes, and a sufficient tourist infrastructure can be built up, including parts of Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, the South American Andes, and East Asia.

History
Alpine skiing evolved from cross-country skiing when ski lift infrastructure was developed at mountain resorts to tow skiers back to the top of slopes, thus making it possible to repeatedly enjoy skiing down steep, long slopes that would be otherwise tiring to climb. The towing also allowed for development of equipment and technique, as it eliminated the need for cross-country capability, most notably allowing the use of hard boots and fixing the heel down for better ski control. Ski touring is the name for skiing that takes place outside ski resorts, using muscle power for ascents and requiring slightly different equipment.
Technique
The main technical challenges faced by skiers are simply how to control the direction and speed of their descent. The downhill skiers gain such control through making alternating left and right turns. Typically, novice skiers use a technique called the "snowplough/snowplow" to maintain comfortable speed and come to a stop by pointing one or both skis inward, but more advanced skiers use more difficult but more elegant and speedier methods. One popular method of turning is called parallel turn; it involves keeping both skis parallel to each other while alternating the weight distribution between them in order to force them turn in a particular direction. The angle of the ski in relation to the slope (called edge angle) is also important as it determines the resistance (friction) created by the edges of the skis. Modern advanced skiing technique is dominated by "carving". To "carve" at a higher speed, a skier rolls his or her knees from side to side while keeping the upper body
and hips facing down the hill and maintaining direction straight downward, so that only the knees and feet are involved into making turns. This technique allows modern "parabolic" skis to turn using the radial properties of the edges of the ski without skidding or slowing down, creating a smooth arc.
As skiers gain confidence, they may tackle steeper, longer and more uneven slopes (including off-piste and ungroomed runs) at higher speeds. In North America, the easiest ski runs are marked by green circles, and are typically fairly flat and smooth. Sometimes known as "bunny slopes", they are usually groomed by specially equipped snowcats every night. A blue square marks slopes of medium difficulty; these blue squares may be steeper or narrower than green circles, or they may be left in a natural state rather than machine-groomed. A black diamond run is yet steeper than a blue square and often involves challenging terrain such as moguls, narrow passes, unmarked obstacles, double fall lines, or gladed sections. A double black diamond is for experts only; these trails are steep, rarely groomed and often left in a completely natural state. There is no standard for these designations, however, and each ski resort determines them relative to their own terrain difficulty. So, for
instance, a blue-square (mid-level) trail at one ski mountain may be markedly more difficult than a black-diamond...(and so on)

Cookie decorating dates back to at least the 14th century when in Switzerland, springerle cookie molds were carved from wood and used to impress Biblical designs into cookies.
The artistic element of cookie making also can be traced back to Medieval Germany where Lebkuchen was crafted into fancy shapes and decorated with sugar. The story of "Hansel and Gretel " published with Grimm's Fairy Tales in 1812 inspired German gingerbread cookie Christmas cards. Also during the 17th century, Dutch and German settlers introduced cookie cutters, decorative molds, and festive holiday cookie decorations to the United States.
Today cookie decorating traditions continue in many places in the world and include such activities as cookie decorating parties, competitions, creating cookie bouquets and cookie gift baskets, and simply decorating cookies with children as a fun family activity.
Cookies decorated with fondant and royal icing form a Mother's Day cookie bouquet.
Glaze, royal icing and fondant are all popular choices for decorating cookies.

History
One of the earliest recorded forms of cookie decorating is the springerle, and the oldest known springerle mold is housed at the Swiss national museum in Zurich, Switzerland. This round-shaped mold was carved from wood in the 14th century and pictures the Easter Lamb.
A springerle mold or press (carved rolling pins) is used to imprint a picture or design on to a cookie. These cookies have been the traditional Christmas cookies in Bavaria and Austria for centuries. To add to the decorative effect, the designs may be colored with food coloring, or when used for decorative purposes only, with tempera or acrylic paints.
Springerle cookies originally displayed biblical scenes and were used to teach the illiterate about the Bible. Eventually, the cookies were decorated with secular scenes depicting images of life events, such as marriages and births.
Springerle
Food historians also trace the artistic element of cookie making back to Medieval Germany where Lebkuchen (gingerbread) was crafted into fancy shapes and decorated with sugar. However, the Lebkuchen guilds only permitted professional gingerbread bakers to make this, with the exceptions of Christmas and Easter when anyone was free to make their own.
The first gingerbread man may have been a Renaissance Man! This cookie is often credited by food historians to Queen Elizabeth I, who during her reign (1558 to 1603) gifted VIP visitors to the court with gingerbread cookies decorated in their likenesses.
These gingerbread "portraits" were decorated with cloves dipped in gold.
During the 17th century, guild employed master bakers and artisans created intricate works of art with their gingerbread houses and cookies. It was also during this period in Germany when cookies, in the form of Lebkuchen, were introduced as Christmas decorations.
In 1812, Grimm's Fairy Tales was published, and the tale of "Hansel and Gretel" inspired 19th century bakeries to add to their fanciful gingerbread entourage, decorated gingerbread cookie Christmas cards and finely detailed molded cookies. Tinsmiths rose to the call and crafted cookie cutters into all imaginable forms for bakeries and homemakers who relished having unique cookie cutters.
Many a Victorian Christmas tree was adorned with decorated cookies in the shapes of animals and gingerbread men.
Also during the 17th century, Dutch and German settlers introduced cookie cutters, decorative molds, and festive holiday decorations to the United States. Gingerbread was likely the first U.S.-made Christmas cookie. (Sugar cookies, one of the most widely decorated of cookies today, evolved from the English.
The German cookie cutters produced more stylized cookies, many with secular Christmas subjects, and for less cost, than the local American tinsmiths. When import laws opened the floodgates to low-cost, German-imported cooking utensils, including cookie cutters, between 1871 and 1906, the American tradition of decorating cookies for Christmas tree ornamentation took hold. In response to this cookie cutter boom, U.S. published cookbooks began featuring cookies in decorative shapes such as bells and Santa Clauses.
Today cookie decorating traditions continue in many places in the world and include: decorating cookies for Christmas and other holidays, cookie decorating parties, decorating cookies for cookie bouquets and gift baskets, trimming the Christmas tree with decorated cookies, and decorating cookies with the children, to name a few.
Cookie decorating events can even be found at history and art museums. And they are frequently found at holiday events, community centers and...(and so on)

The Jeopardy! DVD Game (also called the Jeopardy! DVD Home Game System) is based on the television quiz show Jeopardy! and is produced by Sony Consumer Products, Jeopardy! Productions and MGA Entertainment. Both the TV quiz show and the DVD game are hosted by Alex Trebek and use the iconic Jeopardy! game board consisting of 30 clues (6 categories with 5 clues each). Both also use assorted video clues including the fan-favorite "Clue Crew" videos.

Gameplay
In the DVD game, up to 3 people can play. Individual wireless buzzers are used to navigate through the categories on the Jeopardy! game board and to select clues. Once a clue is selected, Alex Trebek then reads the clue and players have an opportunity to buzz in if they think they know the correct question to the clue.
Scoring is identical to the TV show, including the Double Jeopardy! Round, Daily Doubles and Final Jeopardy!
The DVD game contains 20 original, full-length episodes. It is unique from other Jeopardy! home game versions because it is the first to use individual buzzers and "Clue Crew" videos just like the TV show.
The game differs from traditional DVD games in that includes both a DVD disc and a "gamebase unit", which communicates with your DVD player and your remote buzzers. This was done to better simulate the experience of being an actual contestant on the TV show.
Unlike the TV show, the Jeopardy! DVD Game requires the user to respond to clues by selecting from three choices.

Oil painting of gillnetting, The salmon fisher by Eilif Peterssen.
Gillnetting is a common fishing method used by commercial fishermen of all the oceans and in some freshwater and estuary areas. Because gillnets can be so effective their use is closely monitored and regulated by fisheries management and enforcement agencies. Mesh size, twine strength, as well as net length and depth are all closely regulated to reduce bycatch of non-target species. Most salmon fisheries in particular have an extremely low incidence of catching non-target species.

A bottom set gillnet
Gillnet, the name of the net employed, illustrates the method used to snare target fish. They try to swim through deliberately sized mesh openings but are unable to squeeze through swimming forward. Once in this position, they are prevented from backing out due to the tendency for their gills to become caught. This effectively traps them.

Gillnetting began with aboriginal fishermen using canoes and cedar fiber nets. They would attach stones to the bottom of the nets as weights, and pieces of wood to the top, to use as floats. This allowed the net to suspend straight up and down in the water. Each net would be suspended either from shore or between two boats. Native fishers in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and Alaska still commonly use gillnets in their fisheries for salmon and steelhead.
By around 1864, gillnetting had expanded to European, Japanese, and other international fisheries. The boats used by these fisherman were typically around 25feet (8m) long and powered by oars. Many of these boats also had small sails and were called "row-sail" boats. At the beginning of the 1900s, steam powered ships would haul these smaller boats to their fishing grounds and retrieve them at the end of each day. However, at this time gas powered boats were beginning to make their appearance, and by the 1930s, the row-sail boat had virtually disappeared.
In 1931, the first powered drum was created by Laurie Jarelainen. The drum is a circular device that is set to the side of the boat and draws in the nets. The powered drum allowed the nets to be drawn in much faster and along with the faster gas powered boats, fisherman were able to fish in areas they had previously been unable to go into, thereby revolutionizing the fishing industry.
During World War II, navigation and communication devices, as well as many other forms of maritime equipment (ex. depth-sounding and radar) were improved and made more compact. These devices became much more accessible to the average fisherman, thus making their range and mobility increasingly larger. It also served to make the industry much more competitive, as the fisherman were forced to invest more into their boats and equipment in order to stay up to date with the current technology.
The introduction of fine synthetic fibres such as nylon in the construction of fishing gear during the 1960s marked an expansion in the commercial use of gillnets. The new materials were cheaper and easier to handle, lasted longer and required less maintenance than natural fibres. In addition, multifilament nylon, monofilament or multimonofilament fibres become almost invisible in water, so nets made with synthetic twines generally caught greater numbers of fish than natural fibre nets used in comparable situations.
Nylon is highly resistant to abrasion and degradation, hence the netting has the potential to last for many years if it is not recovered. This ghost fishing is of environmental concern. Attaching the gillnet floats with biodegradable material can reduce the problem. However it is difficult to generalize about the longevity of ghost-fishing gillnets due to the varying environments in which they are used. Some researchers have found gill-nets to be still catching fish and crustaceans for over a year after loss, while others have found lost nets to be destroyed by wave action within one month or overgrown with seaweeds, increasing their visibility and reducing their catching potential to such an extent that they became a microhabitat used by small fishes.
This type of net was heavily used by many Japanese, South Korean, and Taiwanese fishing fleets on the high seas in the 1980s to target tunas. Although highly selective with respect to size class of animals captured, gill nets are associated with high numbers of incidental captures of cetaceans, (whales and dolphins). A highly fashionable football club
F.C. Fossombrone is an Italian football club located in Fossombrone, Italy. Dirk Bikkembergs, the Belgian fashion designer, sought to immerse himself more and more in the reality of the football life, and realised that the answer lay literally next door to the manufacturing site: the home ground of the local football team F.C. Fossombrone. The ball got really rolling when the Brand re-launched it in the Italian amateur championship in 2005. Dirk started using the team as his laboratory for styling and fabric technology. From couture jackets to high-performance underwear, all his designs are now tested and promoted by football players. The Dirk Bikkembergs Group sponsorship of the team, now re-christened F.C. Bikkembergs Fossombrone, involved not only investment to bring in fresh talent, but also a revamp of their entire image. The Bikkembergs Sport football team gear saw the light, with everything pointing to a new type of apparel which would integrate Dirk's unique approach
to fashion into high-performance apparel.
History
F.C. Fossombrone was founded in 1949 when a group of friends, brought together by their love of football, founded a club that only played the game, nothing else. Under the manager De Silverio, Fossombrone achieved prominence in the regional competitions, but was never recognized with a promotion to Serie D. Years later, under Marcello Bonci, who led the club for twenty years, Fossombrone began to win awards, including the Italian Amateur Cup. Towards 1990, the chairmans Nardini and Tamburini expanded the club's activities to the youth sector, which provided a channel into the amateur leagues. The club is now managed by Mos Mughetti, and since 2005/2006 has a big sponsor - the Dirk Bikkembergs Group, who has organized the team and brought in new strategies and a new style.
In the 2006-07 season, under Gabriele Morganti, new players were attracted, such as the Argentinians Piaggio and Baratteri, the ex Napolitan player Vezzosi and others with a professional background like the Vitali brothers, Stefanelli, Cossa and Flavoni. Fossombrone made it quite far into the Coppa Italia, being stopped by Piano San Lazzaro in the regional semi-finals, while in the championship, the club came within one point of the leader, barely missing promotion. After finishing second, Fossombrone headed to the playoffs, to meet with San Lazzaro again. However, this time, Fossombrone won and headed to the regional semi-finals against Torgiano, the winner of the Umbria region. After tying in Umbria, the "bianco-azzuri" were thumped at home, ending their Serie D hopes. The 2007/2008 season started off with a renewed strategy and a younger team. When the team got to the twelfth place, a new trainer, Mirko Omiccioli, stepped in and opened the door to a series of victories. He
took the team to the second place and to the finals of the Coppa Italia, where it won from the leader of the championship. In the 2008/2009 season, the team took off under a lucky star. Four victories and two draws resulted in the top position of Fossombrone after six days of competition.

Away Jersey
F.C. Fossombrone has always had the classic blue and white color uniforms with strips. However, since the arrival of the Dirk Bikkembergs Group, the kits have changed. The home jerseys are now white with blue swirls, while the away is black with a butterfly pattern. Dirk Bikkembergs has also changed the after-game look, discarding the traditional jacket and tie for jeans and tracksuit-like leather jacket. This portrays Fossombrone more as the young team that they are, and Bikkembergs uses the squad to try out his latest designs in sportswear.

Nice Easy is a shampoo-in permanent hair-coloring product for home use. It was introduced in 1965 with the advertising tagline, he closer he gets, the better you look.

History
In the 1950s, just 7% of American women used hair color (or admitted to doing so). At that time, the common belief was that only chorus girls, actresses and other women of ill-repute altered their natural shade. To help change that attitude, Clairol eschewed celebrities in favor of the average woman for its Miss Clairol and Nice Easy hair color campaigns.
The idea to buck the trend of that era advertising style which emphasized high glamour rather than girl-next-door vignettes was the brainchild of lead copywriter Shirley Polykoff, whose work on the Clairol hair color campaign was a career high point. In a memo to Clairol, Polykoff, who was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 1967, described the Clairol woman as ashmere-sweater-over-the-shoulder types. Like larger-than-life-portraits of the proverbial girl on the block who a little prettier than your wife and lives in a house slightly nicer than yours.

(Berndt) Wilhelm Schauman
Born
November 8, 1857(1857-11-08)Jakobstad, Finland
Died
November 14, 1911 (aged54)Berlin, Germany
Occupation
industrialist
Spouse(s)
Elin Wilhelmina (Mimmi) Roos (1858-1908)
Berndt Wilhelm Schauman was the most important industrialist in Jakobstad at the beginning of the 20th century, and was the older brother of Ossian Schauman. Wilhelm Schauman's first industrial installation was a small chicory (coffee additive/substitute) factory, which he founded in 1883. He was also actively involved in the local tobacco factory as part of the management. Apart from this, he continuously founded new enterprises such as a sugar refinery, a steam powered saw mill and a plywood factory, which was the first of its kind in Finland. His enterprises soon expanded beyond the borders of Jakobstad.
A paper and pulp mill was later built in Jakobstad, and still remains today as the largest factory in Jakobstad. It is currently owned by UPM-Kymmene, as a result of a merger in 1988.
Life
After graduating as a mechanical engineer in 1879, Schauman gained employment at a metal factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. Four years later, his young wife (Mimmi Roos) wanted to return home, and the couple decided to return to their hometown Jakobstad when Schauman was turned down for the post of technical director at the Serlachius M?ntt? Mills (despite having received some initial promises). After visiting chicory factories in Germany and Russia, he started his own chicory factory in Jakobstad in the Thod bakery in the centre of town, employing 6 or 7 people. It met with great success and proved to be very profitable, after which Schauman started to build a second production site just outside town in 1884. Within a few years, he was the largest chicory producer in Finland.
After a fire destroyed the second chicory factory in 1892, Schauman built a third factory close to the harbour. This factory became operational in 1893, and is today a museum, housing the original machinery. Initially, the raw material was supplied from Germany, while later Belgium became the most important supplier of chicory root, followed by the Netherlands, Imperial Russia, Estonia and Poland.
The business boomed, as Schauman combined a high quality product at competitive prices with successful marketing strategies. Schauman employed his own agents in cities such as Helsinki, Turku, Tampere and Viipuri, and was careful to design attractive packaging with Russian type print consisting of medallions and other embellishments. Schauman would himself travel around Finland, inviting shopkeepers to sample his products. At the peak of production in 1903, Schauman employed 60 employees, producing close to 1400 tons of roasted and ground chicory.
After the mid-1890s, Schauman diversified into other business activities such as the export of timber goods, towboat operations, the production of saw goods and he also founded a sugar refinery on the Alholmen peninsula outside Jakobstad. In 1889, Schauman was elected to the board of directors of the Ph. U. Strengberg tobacco factory, and seven years later, he was given the post of chairman and CEO. The Strengberg tobaccy factory was at this time the largest producer of cigarettes in the Nordic countries, and also the first internal tobacco producer in the Nordic region.
Schauman continued to expand his personal business empire, and in 1910, he purchased a steam powered saw mill in Yxpila (near Karleby) and in the same year he founded a plywood factory in Jyv?skyl?. However, he did not live to see the factory completed, as he died suddenly during a business trip to Berlin on November 14th, 1911. His fortune at the time of his death was estimated as 2 million Finnish Marks.
Industrial Expansion - From chicory to paper-and-pulp factories
After Wilhelm Schaumans death in 1911, and in accordance with his last will, his business activities were transferred under the ownership of a newly created and publicly traded company Oy Wilhelm Schauman Ab. After divestment of the sugar interests, the company concentrated on its plywood processing plants, eventually becoming the market leader in plywood products. The Jyv?skyl? plywood mill was a promising and highly profitable new venture, and the mill flourished during the early years of World War I. Plywood production also began in Savonlinna in 1921, and a plywood mill in Joensuu was acquired in 1924. The mills at Jyv?skyl?, Savonlinna, and Joensuu were all later merged into the Oy Wilh. Schauman Ab entity.
During World War II the proportion of plywood products rose considerably, and in 1958 a chipboard mill was opened in Jyv?skyl?. A chipboard mill was purchased from Viiala Oy in 1962, and in 1969 Oy Wilh. Schauman Ab opened a chipboard mill in Joensuu, and by the early 1990s the company had chipboard mills in Joensuu, Ristiina (Pellos chipboard mill),...(and so on)

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has divided India into various cellular zones such that within each zone, the call is treated as a local call, while across zones, it becomes a long-distance call. A cellular zone (or cellular circle) is normally the entire state, with a few exceptions like Mumbai (which is a different zone), Goa (which is a part of the Maharashtra zone), Jharkhand (which is a part of the Bihar zone) or Uttar Pradesh (divided into multiple zones).
From May 20, 2005, calls between Mumbai Metro and Maharashtra Telecom Circle, Chennai Metro and Tamilnadu Telecom Circle, Kolkata Metro and West Bengal Telecom Circle and Uttar Pradesh (East) and Uttar Pradesh (West) Telecom Circle Service Areas are merged in Inter service area connectivity. With the above arrangement, calls within a State in the above-mentioned four States would be treated as intra-service area call for the purposes of routing as well as Access Deficit Charges (ADC). The dialing procedure for calls within a State for these States would also be simplified i.e. dialling of mobile-to mobile subscribers and fixed-to-mobile subscribers would be without prefixing '0'.
All mobile numbers in India have the prefix 9 (This includes pager services, but the use of pagers is on the decline). Each zone is allowed to have multiple private operators (earlier it was 2 private + BSNL/MTNL, subsequently it was changed to 3 private + BSNL/MTNL in GSM 900/1800, now each zone has 4-5 operators including BSNL/MTNL in GSM, and 2 private + BSNL/MTNL in CDMA). All mobile phone numbers are 10 digits long, split up as OO-AA-NNNNNN where OO is the operator code, AA is the zone code assigned to the operator, and NNNNNN is the subscriber number.

Various antique to modern Black dolls from the collection of Debbie Garrett
Black dolls are dark-skinned inanimate representations of dark-skinned people. Representations--both stereotypical and accurate--fashioned into playthings, date back centuries. More accurate, mass produced depictions are today's playthings and adult collectibles.
Some mediums used to create black dolls include cloth, papier-mach, paper, china, wood, bisque, composition, hard plastic, vinyl, resin, porcelain, silicone, and polymer clay. Cloth rag dolls made by American slaves served as playthings for slave children. Early mass-produced black dolls typically were dark versions of their white counterparts.
Several 19th century European doll companies preceded American doll companies in the manufacture of black dolls. These predecessors include Carl Bergner of Germany, who made a three-faced doll with one face a crying black child and the other two, happier white faces. In 1892, Jumeau (see Jumeau Dolls) of Paris advertised black and mulatto dolls with bisque heads. Gebruder Heubach of Germany made character faces in bisque. Other European doll makers include Bru Jne. & Cie of Paris, Steiner, Danel, Soci Fran?aise de Fabrication de B et Jouets (S.F.B.J.), and Kestner of Germany. American companies began including black dolls in their doll lines in the early 1900s. Black dolls were extremely popular. Between 1910 and 1930, Horsman, Vogue, and Madame Alexander included black dolls in their doll lines. Gradually other American companies followed suit.
Beatrice Wright Brewington, an African American entrepreneur, founded B. Wright's Toy Company, Inc. and mass produced black dolls with ethnically-correct features. Also an educator, Ms. Wright began instructing girls in the art of making dolls in 1955.
During the 1960s and in the aftermath of the Watts riots in Los Angeles, California, Shindana Toys, a Division of Operation Bootstrap, Inc., is credited as the first major doll company to mass produce ethnically-correct black dolls. Their "dolls made by a dream" with realistic African facial features remain popular amongst black-doll collectors.
Other popular collectible black dolls include manufactured play dolls from prior years, manufactured dolls designed for collectors by companies such as Madame Alexander and Tonner Dolls, artist dolls, OOAK (one-of-a-kind) dolls, portrait dolls and those representing historical figures, reborn dolls, and even paper dolls.
Doll reference books that focus on black-doll identification and values are great resources for individuals seeking in-depth information on antique, vintage, and modern black dolls. Some past and current black-doll books include:

It is used to polish, passivate, and deburr metal parts. It is often described as the reverse of electroplating. It differs from anodizing in that the purpose of anodizing is to grow a thick, protective oxide layer on the surface of a material (usually aluminum) rather than polish.

Mechanism
Typically, the metal work piece is immersed in a temperature controlled bath of electrolyte and connected to the positive terminal (anode) of a DC power supply, the negative terminal being attached to an auxiliary electrode (cathode). A current passes from the anode where metal on the surface is oxidized and dissolved in the electrolyte. At the cathode, a reduction reaction, normally hydrogen evolution, takes place. Electrolytes used for electropolishing are most often concentrated acid solutions having a high viscosity such as mixtures of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. Other electropolishing electrolytes reported in the literature include mixtures of perchlorates with acetic anhydride and methanolic solutions of sulfuric acid.
To achieve electropolishing of a rough metal surface, the protruding parts of a surface profile must dissolve faster than the recesses. This behavior (referred to as anodic leveling) is achieved by applying a specific electrochemical condition, most often involving a mass transport limited dissolution reaction. A second condition for achieving polishing is that surface heterogeneities due to crystal orientation in a polycrystalline material are suppressed and that no pitting occurs. These conditions, often associated with surface brightening, are usually fulfilled with the above mentioned polishing electrolytes and with proper process control.
Applications
Electropolishing has many applications in the metal finishing industry because of its simplicity and it can be applied to objects of complex shape. Typical examples are electropolished stainless steel drums of washing machines and stainless steel surgical devices. Electropolishing is also commonly applied to the preparation of thin metal samples for transmission electron microscopy because electropolishing does not cause mechanical deformation of surface layers usually observed when mechanical polishing is used. Anodic dissolution under electropolishing conditions deburrs metal objects due to increased current density on corners and burrs. Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) components are typically electropolished in order to have a smoother surface for improved vacuum pressures, outgassing rates, and pumping speed.

"Another Weekend" is the name of a 1988 hit single by British pop group Five Star, peaking at #18 on the UK singles chart, but reaching #1 on the UK Dance chart. In the US, the single reached #23 on the R&B charts. It was a return to the charts for the group after a short break to record their fourth LP Rock the World. Opting for a harder edge, leather clad rock sound, this change in music style shocked many fans and critics alike. The band had been accused of removing themselves from their unique style of pop which had made them famous. All the women in the group had hair extensions for their new image, with lead singer Denise opting for long blond extensions.
The lively video clip shows the group dancing to a rapturous crowd on a small flood-lit club stage. Doris is pursued by a hippy looking guy on a motorbike outside in the street at night, while Denise gets told off by a police officer (supposedly for loitering), and Stedman having rats crawl over his feet as he stands beneath a street light.
All these changes would eventually prove a mistake career wise for Five Star as the next few singles would not fare as well as previous releases. The Rock The World album fared well (reaching UK #17), but did not have the staying power of previous albums.

The Glass House was a half-hour Australian comedy talk show which screened on the ABC from 2001 to 2006.
It was hosted by stand-up comedian Wil Anderson, and co-hosted by fellow television and radio comedians Corinne Grant and Dave Hughes. Two additional guests joined the regular cast each week, including musicians, politicians, actors, radio personalities and other celebrities of varying calibre, such as Young Australian of the Year winners and Olympic athletes. Regular guests included comedians Adam Spencer and Akmal Saleh, netballer Liz Ellis, Play School host Rhys Muldoon, musician Pinky Beecroft and music critic Molly Meldrum. The show thrived on taking regular shots at, among others, Shannon Noll, Amanda Vanstone, Naomi Robson, Shane Warne and Peter Costello.
The show was pre-recorded in front of a live audience in the ABC's Sydney studio on Tuesday evenings. During the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the show was taped inside the Melbourne Town Hall. The program initially screened on Friday nights, but suffered from an inconsistent timeslot, resulting in humorous TV spots, for example 9:30 Friday...probably. In 2005, The Glass House shifted to a more reliable timeslot on Wednesday at 9:35pm.
The show was recognised by the AFI Awards in 2005, winning Best Light Entertainment in the Television category, and beating long-time rival and ABC stablemate Enough Rope. Also in 2005, The Glass House was voted Most Under Acknowledged TV Show in one of the good categories for the satirical TV Fugly Awards .

Cancellation
On 31 October 2006, the ABC announced the program was cancelled and the final episode of the series would go to air on 29 November 2006 as a one hour special. Wil Anderson also announced the cancellation on his Official MySpace blog[citation needed] and on the Triple M radio show The Cage[citation needed]. Anderson mentioned on the show that they may look at Network Ten as a possible home for the show in the future.
The ABC decision generated public interest, with suggestions the decision may have been politically motivated. Dave Hughes stated that "We have had our best ratings ever,".
The cancellation occurred in the same year as the ABC's decision not to publish the biography of Alan Jones and followed relevations the ABC had begun a new investigation into bias in its programs. The decision occurred one day after NSW senator Connie Fierravanti-Wells told ABC executives under their questioning that co-host Corinne Grant had been guilty of a serious conflict of interest because she was the public face of the ACTU's workplace relations campaign.
Numerous online groups and petitions were created in an attempt to keep the show on air. Although the move came in the middle of Federal Government attempts to force changes in the management and policies of the ABC to remove perceived bias, then Prime Minister John Howard said he did not ask the ABC Board to axe the show.
The final episode was ranked the week's 10th most watched show nationally with 1.15 million viewers, which also provided the highest ever ratings for The Glass House.
Repeat screening
Since July 17, 2008, ABC1 have been playing repeat episodes from season 5 onwards at 3:55am on Friday mornings.
Segments
The show opened with "Ahead in The Glass House...", where an (unseen) upcoming segment is announced followed by a few seconds of out-of-context news footage, usually taken from an interview of an Australian political figure.
The main part of the show began with Anderson seated on steps at the front of the stage, who begins with "Welcome to the Glass House, the program that asks the question...", the question concerning an event from the past week. Anderson will then joke about one to four unusual stories and introduce Corinne Grant, who enters from the camera left. Grant starts off with a pun on Anderson's name and performs a similar, but shorter monologue. Anderson then introduced Dave Hughes who enters from the camera right, and usually begins with "This week I'm..." and followed by an emotion, usually 'angry', ad-libbing his concerns. The two guests are announced and greeted by Anderson while the panel assembles at the boomerang-shaped table.
Regular segments included:
Movers and Shakers, concerning stories about unusual trendsetters or pioneers. Anderson will read from teleprompter...(and so on)

For other uses, see Bucket (disambiguation) and Scoop.
A bucket (also called a scoop to qualify shallower designs of tools) is a specialized container attached to a machine, as compared to a bucket adapted to the form of a human being. It is a bulk material handling component.
The bucket has an inner volume as compared to other types of machine attachments like blades or shovels.
The bucket could be attached to the lifting hook of a crane, at the end of the arm of an excavating machine, to a the wires of a dragline excavator, to the arms of a power shovel or a tractor equipped with a backhoe loader or to a loader, or to a dredge.
The name "bucket" may have been coined from buckets used in water wheels, or used in water turbines or in similar-looking devices.
Purposes
Buckets in mechanical engineering can have a distinct quality from the traditional bucket (pail) whose purpose is to contain things. Larger versions of this type of bucket equip bucket trucks to contain human beings, buckets in water-hauling systems in mines or, for instance, in helicopter buckets to hold water to combat fires. Two other types of mechanical buckets can be distinguished according to the final destination of the device they equip: energy-consumer systems like excavators or energy-capturer systems like water bucket wheels or turbines.
Size and shape
Buckets exist in a variety of sizes or shapes.
They can can be quite large like those equipping Hulett cranes, used to discharge ore out of cargo ships in harbours or very small such as those used by deep-sea exploration vehicles.
The shape of the bucket can vary from the truncated conical shape of an actual bucket to more more scoop-like or spoon-like shapes akin to water turbines. The cross section can be round or square.
Designs
Simple design
This is the same shape of a domestic form, the one-piece-standing single element, but often with an augmented size.
Helicopter bucket
An helicopter bucket allows to carry water above a fire site.
Concrete bucket
Concrete buckets help deliver concrete on a specific site of a building by the means of a tower crane. They have a bottom opening to allow concrete to flow out of the bucket when in-place.
Electrical trucks bucket
They are placed at the end of an excavator-like arm and have to be made from a material that provides isolation from electricity, like fiber glass, to help the workers protect themselves. There may be a door on the side of the bucket.
Excavator bucket
Excavator buckets are made of solid steel and generally present teeth protruding from the cutting edge, to disrupt hard material and avoid wear-and-tear of the bucket.
Clamshell bucket
The clamshell bucket is a more sophisticated articulated several-pieces device, including two elementary buckets associated on a hinged structure forming a claw-like appendage with an internal volume.
Buckets-wheel
In mining
The design is used in bucket-wheel excavators. The buckets in the wheel have to be made of solid material to withstand the resistance of the material it cuts through.
In water hoisting
In energy production
The bucket wheel design is also used to capture the water energy in water-wheels or water turbines like Pelton wheels. The buckets also have to be made of solid material to withstand the the force of the water flow. Their shape is optimized according to their purpose. Other designs include vertical shaft wind turbines designs like on the Savonius wind turbine. In this case, the buckets have to be made of a light material.
Buckets-ladders (buckets-chains)
The buckets-ladders are used in bucket elevators or in the dredge design of some dredgers.

Linear Sandwich theory describes the behaviour of a beam which consists of three layers. It is an extension of static first order beam theory.
Linear sandwich theory is of importance for the design and analysis of sandwich panels, which are of use in building construction, vehicle construction, airplane construction and refrigeration engineering.

Preconditions
Sandwich cross sections are composite. They consist of a moderately shear-proof core which, connected with two exterior rigid cover sheets is shear-proof and has tensile strength.
Each cover sheet might be bend-proof.
Each layer for itself fulfils the standards of evenness of the cross section but not the cross section as a whole.
Basics of the theory
The behaviour of a beam with sandwich cross sections under a load differs from a beam with a constant elastic cross section:
Besides the elastic deformation of the cover sheets, which are tensed up against each other and are possibly profiled, shear dropping occurs which is caused by the moderately shear-proof core.
As long as the sandwich cross section shows one or two profiled cover sheets, its partial stresses resultant are indefinite.
Differences of temperature between the cover sheets persist because of the thermal separation by the core material. Because of the different linear expansions of the cover sheets these temperature differences lead to a bending of the sandwich beam in the direction of the warmer cover sheet. This leads to restraint as long as this deformation is avoided by intermediate supports or the bending stiffness of the cover sheets.
Figure 1 - Equilibration of a deflected sandwich beam under temperature load and burden in comparison with the undeflected cross section
Assuming that each partial cross section fulfils Bernoulli's hypothesis, the balance can be formulated at the deformed sandwich beam element, in order to deduce from this the bending equation for the sandwich beam.
The stresses resultant and the corresponding deformations of the beam and of the cross section can be seen in Figure 1. The following relationships are taken from elasticy theory:
Where the terms are as follows:
Dropping of the continous beam
Shear angle of the core
Rotation of the coverings concerning the perpendicular bending line
Rotation of the linear connection between the centre of the coverings
Sandwich portion of the bending moment
Sandwich portion of the bending resistance
Bending moment of the coverings
Bending resistance of the coverings
Sandwich portion of shear force, thus shear force in the core
Shear force portion in the coverings
Shear stiffness of the core
The missing of the index shows the sum of the sandwich portion and covering portion as size of the hole cross section.
Curve in consequence of a temperature drop
Temperature coefficient of expansion of the converings
By forming the differential equation for the sandwich continuous beam, the following can be determined:
In the literature the segregated version is also used:
Approaches
In general, the sandwich continuous beam is indefinite because of the superior number of balance conditions.
Additionally there are - concerning bend-proof cover sheets - the inner indefiniteness regarding the distribution of stresses resultant to normal forces and bending in the cover sheets.
Analytical approach
By utilization of the border- and transition conditions differential equations can be solved for each single case. Such results are conveyed in the DIN EN 14509:2006 (Table E10.1) . They can be easily used for the calculation of simple systems (double span beams under uniformly distributed loads, and so forth). A programmed utilization which has been done in a table calculation and in which the above mentioned closed solutions for simple cases are deposited can be sourced from the institute for sandwich technology.
Furthermore, results can be calculated by the use of the energy method (force way sizes method).
Numerical approach
The differential equation of sandwich continuous beams can be solved by the use of numerical methods. This may be done:
by the use of difference arithmetic or
according to the method of finite elements.
For the difference arithmetic Berner recommends a double-stage approach: After solving the differential equation for the normal forces in the cover sheets for a single span beam under an optional load, the method of force way sizes can be used to expand the approach for the calculation of multi-span beams.
